Has anyone read this thing? I have and i can't find answers to the following.

How should one close the hatch/trunk?
What is the flashing red light on the upper left side of the radio?
What do the radio EQ settings mean and how do you use them?
How do you remove the ashtray?

This manual so poorly written and organized that it is near worthless. The quick start booklet is more informative and readable. Anyone else feel this way or is it me?

HMMMMM, maybe you should thumb through a 2004 manual. Most of those questions are probably answered in that one. Just kidding of course. You would think that the tech writers would have this writing of owners manuals down by now... guess not.:confused

I think the hatch may have a "pull down" feature like high end lux cars, but I'm not sure about that. If it does, just seat the hatch down lightly and the pull down will close it the rest of the way. If not, slam it, just like a C5. The blinking light on the radio is the security system for the stereo. You need to get the code from the dealer (since it appears that they have programmed it) as the radio will not work if you have to replace the battery. EQ is your preference, just fiddle with it. I've found Bose systems to be a little bass heavy, but I have not heard a C6 system yet. You are on your own on the ashtray

Thanks for the info. The hatch does have a pull down feature. I guess i don't like speculating on what may be the proper way to close the thing. What is the blinking light telling me? Is all OK or is it warning me of something ? The EQ issue is a little confusing as there are 8 different choices and a choice called "Custom". Customize what ? Damn the GM tech writers!! I guess i'll just have to enjoy the car and foreget about understanding it.

Hopefully some answers

The Theft-Lock (flashing light) on the radio will flash constantly, believe it just indicates the security feature is working. The EQ, assuming stands for equalizer settings-- I view as nothing more that the old radio choices of best tone for news, rock music, etc.

I've had no luck deciphering how to close the hatch either. When you find out, let me know.

Proud owner of Mag red with Steel gray interior, as contrasted to the Lemans Blue I originally ordered.

It's just great that we have to guess how or what we should be doing with the systems in the car !! My dealer had a Mag Red , boy was it beautiful.

The hatch has a handle on the upper right side, the tech at the NCM shows it to be jerked down or slammed. Most of the time it works, sometimes not. It's not a pull down, more of a lock down and you have to get it nearly closed for it to work. Single lock point and less impressive than the double latches on the C5, another cure for a C5 problem that didn't exist.

The flashing light was answered already.

For the EQ settings just push the tuning button and the menu will come up on the LCD, push it again for further elements of the tuning.

To remove the ash tray take ahold of the right side and lift up.

Thanks for the info. Now wouldn't it be nice if your info were to be included in the Owners Manual. The manual is really a laugh.

This may be a little redundant but again the hatch latch is a lock down like a shot pin and you need to get it nearly closed for it to work. My Cadillac was a pull down and it was much easier to close and it had a rotating pull down that would bring it down an inch or better. You're lucky if this lock down will pull it down 1/4 of an inch. Ok, but not a great system.

As for the flashing light in the upper left of the console it has nothing to do with the dealer installing a code like the C5’s had. In fact there is nothing that I’ve found that says that there is such a code on the C6 radio. My guess is that it is just to make you aware that the security is activated, again nothing in the manual.

The reason he ask about the EQ is that it is the only way you can tune the balance but there is nothing to tell you how to open the menu.

I still have my service manuals for the C5's and will let them go when I can get the C6 manual. Most of the C6 that I've looked at is the same as the C5 or enough alike to allow me to get through anything I'm doing right now. When I tried to place the order they said they wouldn't be available until the first of next year.

For what it's worth, a few things are obvious when you get the C6 on a lift. First is the exhaust, it has a clamp connection versus the flange that the C5 had. Muffler swap will be a little more difficult. The cats are mounted almost on the manifolds so headers will require a new set of cats mounted somehow. The smaller oil pan with less capacity will make a little less costly oil change. Lowering the C6 will be a challenge because the rear spring is mounted like the front, on top of the suspension with almost no adjustment.

One more comment, I just got back from a 1,500 mile trip and that's the reason I had it on the lift. CAGS is now a thing of the past, what a PITA, and to think for 20 cents it could have been gone before I got caught in the accident traffic on the WV/V border on I-77.

Thanks for the info. Everytime i have a question or want to understand how something works i go to the manual and what do i get...Nothing! I called Customer Service at Chevy and they know nothing. I gave up my 98', 00' manual when i traded them in. Should have kept the 98's as it was the most accurate and clear...though by now dated.

You got that right; the '98 was the best. I can only say that the China made '04 was pathetic, plus the cover was so small and cheap that it wouldn't even fit inside without forcing it.

to close the hatch i just drop it if the door or window is open and if they are closed i just push it down till the "thing" grabs it and pulls it closed
