I recently replaced my oxygen sensor on my 1985 Tunded Port Corvette. Here's the problem, when I installed the new oxygen sensor, I noticed that the pig-tail lead was not presented. After jacking the car up and looking everywhere, I did not see the old wire which had broken-off, nothing. Can anyone tell me where I should be looking for the old wire or where the ECM is located so at least I can begin tracing wires from there. My local dealer was able to provide me with a new pig-tail, the male end and it came with a connector, I just need to find the right wire to connect it to and then plug in the new sensor.

I greatly appreate any and all information.

Many Thanks,

Jim Wade

If your '85 is like my '87 (I think it is), the ECM should be under the passenger side dash. However, I hope someone can chime in with some info as to where to check for the wire once it comes through the firewall. I would think it would be a pain to have to trace it all the way from the ECM ~ good luck.

Welcome, new guy!

The ECm is behind the bolster.above the passenger's feet. The oxygen sensor wire will disappear into a wire bundle and plastic shroud at least once, and emerge underhood, firewall forward, opposite the driver's feet.

The wire color is purple and it goes directly to the ECM. The factory manual's illustration is poor, but it is shown on the engine, lower left side, at the top of the oil pan, near the exhaust manifold bung (hole) for the sensor.
