My C3 is a 1980 Red exterior / Oyster Interior
All the leather inside is Oyster, however all the carpet inside is gray. There is no color code for gray carpet for my year vehicle. So my question: is if I order new carpet and use the oyster color code for my year, what color carpet will arrive at my door.
Yes - All the carpet inside is original.
Thank you,

light gray

My stock interior is Oyster Leather with a light gray carpet.

When i spoke to Paul Borowski about his 1980 yellow/oyster, he seemed to make it clear that oyster was not a color but more of a color-combo, with the white seats and gray carpet and i believe black dash top. Therefore when you order a carpet with oyster color 'package' it should be the same gray you have now.

Hmmm...I'm with Heidi. Oyster interior (leather :)). And everything inside is oyster. But don't forget with the change in years maybe the word "oyster" became redefined. So as for '78, oyster is definitely a color throughout the whole interior.

My 80 has the same Oyster seating and interior, with the light gray carpeting (black dash top) as described. All stock.

Okay, it does sound like they changed "oyster" over the years form a color to a package.

Warning.....Warning......Warning......:eek

SCS/Red80 has a great question here. I have been going nuts trying to get the right matts for my car. I have a '79 Oyster interior with gray matting. Every time I order 1979 Oyster interior matting I get either off white, tan, beige....but not gray.

Just today I placed an order with Zip(s)? I told the guy on the phone and he explained that Oyster would be beige matting. I explained in detail my problem and he is sending me gray matting as I requested. I think he said it was from either '80 or '82...I just now hope that the color is right and it will fit my '79!

Good Luck!

Well I'm glad to see I'm not the only one.
ytown - I hope your most recent order works out for you.
I called wilcox yesterday and placed my order, after talking with the gentleman on the phone we agreed on a light gray carpet to go with the oyster interior, as was original in the car. I have yet to recieve the order so not sure how it is going to match up. I got a complete kit so the only thing I have to match is the doors - should go well, my fingers are crossed. I will post pics when I get the interior back together.

Note to self - Winter is for upgrades and change,
NOT SPRING! :bash

I have the original mats in my '78 Oyster, and there are lite gray...their worn but...hard to replace, so there'll stay.

Really? Because my original mats in my '78 Oyster are beige and tannish. Hmm...one of ours isn't stock me thinks. Is that the only gray in your interior?

Stallion, maybe your right, mine are real, but worn. Their off-white, beige family. Lite gray is proberly a wrong choice. They should say left hand & right hand on the back bottoms, if there real.

I'll have to look at my mats...

...but they are original, worn and light gray.
I'll check to see what they say on the back. I have to dig them out of the 1978 box, since I put in cheapie gray mats to preserve my originals.

careful; 78 Oyster and 79 Oyster are different interior colors. I received 79 door panels and had to send them back.

Right, '78 had thier own Oyster color.

Just an update, Like I said earlier - I ordered the complete carpet kit from wilcox and recieved it in the right color combo for my car, i.e. I have the oyster leather and gray carpet. So for me everything worked out great! The carpet is an exact color match! Im pleased, I would suggest though that since there does seem to be a wide varity of color combos and shades for different years that when and if you do order carpet or interior colored items that you do so on the phone with a person, so that you can verify what your ordering is the right color.
Just my .02
Thanks to everyone who chimed in and helped me get my interior done.

Now for a new engine! :_rock

About the new engine, what are you looking at? Crate? Rebuild? What? :D
