hello, i am getting tired of the p/s leaking. does anyone sell a complete kit to replace the control valve, slave cylinder ,hoses and pump. i'd like to make a deal on all the components at one time, maybe save a few dollars.
later i could rebuild the originals, for the future.

thanks

Hi Robin,
I replaced pump, cylinder and control valve last year. I went through 2 bottles of Lucus P/S fluid last year on a 700 round trip. You want to be "real" careful screwing the hoses into all their respective fittings. They can easily strip. Start them by hand to make sure they are going in correctly so you don't cross thread them and don't overtighten. You can always tighten "a little more" but it you strip, you can't go backwards. You might want to consider Ecklers "Remanufactured" valve and cylinder - they give a 5 yr. warranty on them. I went with their new ones. Upon return of your old unit, you get a $30 credit on the cylinder and a $50 credit on the valve.

Robin,

I did mine this year. Let me give you some advice.
Buy a NEW steering valve not a rebuilt one. I went through 3 of them before I got one that worked right.
Pump, hoses and steering assist cylinder can be bought at Parts Plus stores for the same or less than catalog prices and you don't have to wait for them more than a couple hours. $75.00 core charge for the steering valve and cylinder each. Get a set of hose fitting wrenches, that will keep you from rounding the fittings off.
It's kind of hot to be doing this work this time of the year, but fortunately, if you take the wheel off, it can all be done through the wheelwell.

Good luck and have fun.

Pete.

I bought the rebuilt ones from ZIP (4 hoses, ram, & clyinder) . Worked fine the first time.

howdy all, well i almost have the garage organized enough for the Vette to fit in. going to build shelves on my b'day and lay some in/out carpet. once the car's inside i will probably re-build the factory stuff. copdogcorvette gave me a gift cert that i need to use up.but at any moment that can change!
