Someone asked on another forum about driveability problems he is now having after his PCM was reflashed by the dealer for the infamous column lock recall. I don't know the extent of his mods, but here's the text of my reply, in the event that you are experiencing the same issues:
"I just went to the dealer for exactly the same thing. My car was running like a top before they reflashed the PCM for the column lock. I have "minor mods" (Donaldson, w/screen, stock airbridge, 80mm BBK, LS6 manifold, Corsa) on a 2000 MN6. I had absolutely no complaints.
I noticed almost immediately after the reflash -- stalling at idle when cold, a hesitation at WOT acceleration from 2,500-3,200 (even a drop at 2,900), more backfire on deceleration, and the car setting P0138 and P0158 codes on throttle full closed deceleration (current only, no check engine light). Those are the heated oxygen sensors, both sides.
Went to the dealer, and it turns out that part of the programming on the column lock recall also includes a free "address engine knock complaint" that I didn't have. The service manager, who is terrific, spoke with GM a couple of times while I sat in his office. It does not seem possible to get the car reflashed to the previous version without a 30-day dog-and-pony show, faxes back and forth.
To me, the car is now running rich (which would be explained through the reprogram for "engine knock"), so I took out the screen (I had a pair of plastic MAF ends lying around), and the car now does not stall when cold, and the hesitation is (mostly) gone -- in any event it's a lot smoother. The P0138/58C will occasionally show up on full closed throttle deceleration after a series of WOT, then disappear to "no codes."
So, I can either live with it, or tomorrow call VetteDoctors for a tune."
If you are having driveability problems after the PCM reflash for the column lock, that may be the source.
