Working with a '90 C4 L98 that has the 1227727 ECM. I may want to verify
the integrity of a plug pin in one of the 4 harness plugs. I haven't dealt with
this style of connector and was hoping one you might have a recommendation
for "Extracting" pins on the ECM plugs. I have visited the Chevy Thunder site
and they indicate the extractor tool on their site is not for use on my ECM.
I like to ask before I tear into something and damage it, so how do I extract
pins from the ECM harness plugs?

Thank you

When testing for proper pin fit you need a male pin and you insert it in each female pin and you must feel some drag when you pull it out.

There is a drag value in the FSM I just don't remember what it is.

After checking a few its obvious which ones are bad.

Hope this saves you from trying to remove them and causing damage

Thanks Doug, what I intend to do is visually inspect the pin and
crimp on a couple of pins in a couple of the 4 harness plugs. I was
was hoping to get some guidance on "How" to extract the pin and
"What" to use as a tool to aid in the extraction.

There are multiple types, for me to help I would need a pic of the connector

Plug Picture

Doug, attached find a picture of the standard P4 plug setup.
I hope the pic is visible. Thanks again.

Here's the tool you need
Metri-Pack & Weather Pack Crimping Tools

Your pin is similar to these, when released it comes out through the frontside.

The tool is pushing the tab down, be sure to pull the wire from the back side slightly or the tab will get jamed upward and you will play hell getting it out
Hope this helps

Ps
And you insert it in the little square above the pin hole
