Pack Rat Addiction

'''All''' needs to be classified and taggeed "collectibles". Keeps the little woman mumbling vs screaming.

That's exactly what I tell my wife.... she hasn't bought it yet. :cry

Going through my garage thinking what I can get rid of to make more room. I come to realize that I have Pack Rat Addiction. Anything that looks like it might have a use I find difficult to throw out. I have odds and ends parts all the way back to 1962. How many people are holding on to an Olds 403? :L Not only is my garage a mess, I also have a small shed out at my brothers farm piled full. Another odd part, 1963 327 manifold with the WCFB carb on it. :L
What I wonder is, am I alone , are there any other people out there with the same problem? Maybe I need a support group. ;LOL

Lets here it . Anyone else pack parts away ?

:w
:D Why have you brought this up??? Have you been to my house or my garage??? Yes I still have parts for my 1959 chevy convertible.... And I did build a building out back so I could get into my garage again...[and it's a four car garage] but I am not a pack rat ,,,I just keep everything....Do you need anything? I've probably got one here someplace......No I'm not a pack rat, I just keep a lot of stuff......:D

Oh, yeah-bad! Chevrolet-not exclusive to Corvette...

2 327 motors, 1 307, 3 350's. I can't count the valve covers, including 7 and 9 fin Corvette, early 283, 327, 350, Weiand, Edelbrock-you get it.

Quadrajets?! You kiddin' me? Holding! Intake and Exhaust manifolds, timing covers, dampers. Tin. Stamped original hardware. And that's the Chevy stuff, I like Harleys, too...

I'll stop here before another 2 paragraphs...

My name is Rick, and I am a Pack Rat. :)

Works for me...

What year QJets do you have? I been looking to rebuild and modify one. You willing to part with one for some dinero?

Hey Stallion -

Let's see-I have a '67 Pontiac GTO Ram Air Q-jet (I'm looking for the choke pieces-the entire right side), that I can't sell. I have a '68 Q-jet, 2 '69 350/396 carbs, probably 6 or so '70-'72 Chevy Q-jets, and another 5 '73-'78 carbs, mixed makes, plus the carbs that are on the cars I have. I might be willing to let something go...

What are you looking for? I have a guide that will tell me the exact application,if you have something specific in mind (choke type, etc.), I may be able to come up with one. I would be reasonable, certainly less than $50, depending on which one. Sound fair?

If you could find the choke side parts for my '67 Ram Air carb, I would be real reasonable...(it's for my wife's GTO).

Stallion. Think I have a Q jet from a chevy 454. that would be rated a little more cfm than the 350 Q jets.

Rick what is special about that choke setup ? I have some olds Q jets.

Olds Q-jets

Sorry it's taken me a couple days to get online-I was fetching and working on my new project Z-28 Camaro.

Now, I need to go out to the garage and decode what I do have so I can better inform you.

However, I do know that Buick/Olds/Pontiac (BOP) Q-jets typically had a different choke setup than Chevy. Chevy stayed with the divorced choke/thermostatic coil system much longer than the others. BOP was experimenting with hot-air and electric designs before Chevy. As for who had what in which model year, I can't say offhand but a little research will tell.

If you have a specific carb number I might be able to help you. There is also some good sites out there such as www.carburetion.com/quadrajet.asp

Hope this helps. Regards,

Rick

You just know when you are going to need something. So better save it all or use the once a year rule - If you have not seen it for a year - get rid of it.
