Peter,

Whats the word on the sinister black Callaway? Has it hit the road yet? Tell him not to put too many miles on it. I want to keep it as low mileage as possible when I pick it up :D :upthumbs :L

If I'm correct, the current owner put NOS in the car to make it a bit faster... I wonder if the Callaway block will hold it's guts under that pressure....

Callaway4Fun has a lot of the technical spec's on that car as he had planned to purchase it at one point - I think that car can take the juice ;) (and then some... ) :v :D

Hello Josh,

Sorry for my late reply but i was on a studytrip in India for 2.5 weeks! :D
As far as i know the Callaway is haunting the roads now. The nos is already on it, this is al i know. When i've some more info you'll be the first to know ;)
Here's a pic from the updated enginebay:

:( In my opinion thats a shame. Nitrous doesn't belong on that car. :(

But hey its his car...:beer

Surf,

I hear that Arie did put NOS on and is "going to a racetrack nearby where he's going to try to hit the 300k/m!!!"

Here are a couple of other pictures of his car.

Luigi
:cool

I would hate to hear if something goes wrong with that car . Most of it is a one off so If something goes wrong it will be a fortune to fix. I would never put nitrous on a Callaway . That is just me they are fast enough without the nitro.

Hmmm nitrous and topend runs don't mix. If he stays in to too long that motor will pop.

I hate to be a pessimist, but this isn't going to turn out good. :(

It's a difficult subject.

Personaly i think this Callaway is a one of a kind (sort of second Sledge), and its extreem enough in it's on way. Normaly i like small adjustments on vette's to personalise them but this one had no compaditors so didn't need the changes.

I follow the rule, i think is the mean essence of Callaway Cars... form follows function.
All the colorful tube's / hoses in the enginebay now only makes it less attractive to me then without. NOS is also not me kind of thing for this engine but if Arie like's it, I have to take it for granded. As i see on Luigi's pic's the rear spoiler still isn't there or is canceld, i like the Aero better without any spoilers and it's even faster to (without) i think.

But from the other side, the other vette's in Arie's collection are "function follows form!" So i'm glad he didn't go all the way with this Callaway.

From the other side, this is the one Callaway where "original" doesn't apply to. This is a vette with some very rare evolution's. So you could say this is the next evolution, but i liked the pure speed #010 better...

Let's just hope this Callaway will not blow or something else. I'm glad to have this Callaway over here but i hope it will remain a king of the roads instead of a "need for speed" showcar..

Just my 2 cents of course :)

Groeten Peter.

I agree Chris. The DEI CryO2 system would be killer on that car.

I just have a bad feeling that no 10's lifespan could get very short. :( :cry

Not even sure what to say...

Since none of it would be good I will probably just refrain from speaking my mind and say, I hope the car survives this owner and eventually ends up in the hands of someone who appreciates it and will preserve it. Or more likely put it back to how it should be since it's now moving in another direction.

Those red wire covers?... Whatever they are?... Under the hood... are the same cheap plastic wire covers that you see on bling bling Honda Civics right?

I think Josh said it all with - :( :cry All I could think to add is - :duh

I think the NOS is fake. From what I heard they just put foggers on top of the intercoolers to get a spray so the car would look like a raging bull (how sad & childish), not even under the intercoolers so they would cool. And that red wire loom..all I can say is OMG.

I am not surprised this is happening to the car, especialyl since I know who is working on it. It's a shop only interested in fake stuff, burn outs and other BS. They don't care one bit about preserving a piece of history. this car has fallen into the hands of ricers and posers. Too bad surfnsun didn't buy it.

Look at the pic, you can see a nitrous express solenoid and a line with what looks like a fricken piece of garden hose. The intercooler ducts are probably drilled for holes so the line for the nozzle can pass through. All this for a fake setup only for looks. How long will it be before that thing is sporting one huge aluminium ricer wing.

I was wondering is that braided hose for real? purple hose ends and all...looks like cheap braided sleeves to me.

To get an impression of who is working on that car...he was looking for 2 turbos with the vacuum pots and what not. The guy wouldn't know what a turbocharger was if it hit him in the face.

Since some of you guys are so familiar with Callaway, anyone got a clue what the Speiss project is? I have 2 carbon/aluminium intercoolers and they're from that project, they have a big S and a triangle on them.

89-010

Boy after following this car for so long it is troublesome to see it heading down this road. It is for sure a highly modified car but it was always Callaway doing the modifying. It is for sure the right year for me. Maybe someday a chance at it?? When Callaway4fun was checking on it what was the cost of getting it back to the US and is it a problem to legalize it here?:beer This weekend is kind of a let-down after Bloomington. :cry

There is no problem getting the car here as it is a us based car. The cost to get the car back depends on how you were to ship it . Drive on shipping about $1200 container shipping about $2300 I should have bought that car when I had a chance.

Thanks Callaway4fun. That cost is actually less then I guessed. That amount wouldn't influence me on a car like 89-010. :D Why did you decide not to buy & what was the price US$ at that time?

Thanks Ike

I saw the 010 yesterday for the first time after i had seen in in Februari when it just was in Holland. I've got 2 picture's of the enginebay. I'll post them later today...

Greetings Peter.

I think an edit here is in place:

IMO Twin Turbo is kind of biased about the shop where the car gets it's work done, he did have a large fall out with these guys and I think this is not a fair piece of judgement...

This Callaway has received some minor modifications, but I know the owner personally and, despite the fact he loves his Corvettes heavily modified, this Callaway will NOT receive major modifications (as the owner told me). As TT states: the NOS is there only for show purposed (and I must say: I like the 'Raging Bull' statement, as do all viewers of the car), not to add more horsepower. The red plastic cables in the left are a temporary thing, they will be replaced by these wired, RVS-like cable housings. Red ignition cables replaced the original (black) ones, that went bad.

Besides that: I also know the shop owner and IMO he does know a lot about Corvettes. Ok, some people always know more, but that is besided the point now and besided this thread.

The owner has another problem when he wants to customize #10: we are constantly nagging him not to :D ;)

To TT: please do NOT add this thread to your personal vendetta with this shop, will you?:(

I did not have any falling out with this shop, where the hell did you get that idea from? I was long gone from the ICC before that stuff happened so don't pin that on me.

I just said I know who is working on it, it's a guy that loves to roast tires and is heavily into street racing and that kind of stuff, hardly a shop I would trust my unique 1 of car to.

There's so much BS talk floating around in these Corvette clubs, this is just another. I do not like you coming in here making a stupid comment based on nothing but gossip. The fact that the ICC had a major problem with this shop is none of my concern and I was not involved. Check your gossip circuit and you will see there's a time span of about 1/2 a year in between me leaving and them having a major fight between them.

This ****es me off, I hear the most rediculous stories about me, for instance some idiot calling other people telling them I'm a dangerous guy and people should stay away from me. I have helped a lot of people with Corvettes, I'm a decent guy I just don't like to be messed with.

So, can you honestly say here that the shop is a shoip that handles true restorations with attention to detail, NCRS type work? No you can't because you know that's not how they operate.

Go ask the shop owner if he ever had trouble with me, he and I can look at each other face to face, never had a problem with him. Don't pin other peoples problems on me.

Personal vendetta, WTF... if I will be hearing a story in that direction some time soon I will know where it came from.

Ok, it's probably your way of complimenting the shop then :) If I recall correctly: at the time when you still were in the ICC, you guys didn't mind burning a few tires every weekend at this particular shop? And you currently building a 600+HP engine (as you state) will only serve the purpose of driving around old ladies? ;)

I just think it's a hasty conclusion to reach: the soul purpose of this car was racing and Callaway did a hell of a job creating a racing car. He went so far that somewhere down the line, the owner had to sign away his warranty on this car. If Arie want's to add some personal touches, it is his right to do so. If you then draw the conclusion that "this shop and this owner will drive this car into oblivion", I think it's kind of hasty to do so.

I'm curious: if you can show me ANY shop over here in the Netherlands that can truly handle a car restauration with these high standards, please do so.
And besided: NCRS rules hardly apply on a C4 that much modified (by Callaway) is this car is. don't you think? My point: please try to keep the comment on any shop a little objective.
