I'm not in the business of complimenting anyone, I call it as I see it. If I see stuff that I feel deserves a compliment from my part I will give it and I don't see any of that there (apart from the amazing engineering callaway did on it)

As for the tire roasting, I was there 2 times when the burnouts were done and both times I did not participate. I was there for chit chat and talking about vettes and technical stuff, not to burn rubber.

What do you care what the purpose of my car, or intended purpose will be? I don't ask you the same thing do I, do i have to get your approval to do what I'm doing? I think not. Yes my engine is capable of making well in excess of 600 HP and what I will do with it is my business. I can tell you, it's not burning rubber (check the price on Hoosier 29x15,5x16 pro street radials and you know why), also I don't like breaking stuff.

It's my personal opinion that adding fake nos stuff like that and those awful wire looms is a shame, and judging from previous replies I am surely not the only one.

Maybe it hadn't dawned on you but I'm a person that likes to build stuff, I like tinkering on my cars and I like to do stuff differenly. The day that you will see me burning tires just for fun will not come. I can guarantee you that.

Ok, no problem there. The current owner likes that too, but in a different way as you do: he likes his Vettes customized. I think that is also why he bought the Callaway: in a way it is a very customized Vette if you compare it to a C4. Ofcourse this car should be preserved in it's current way as much as possible and Arie (the owner) told me this is what he want's for this car too. He also told me he was a bit shocked about the reactions over here and that these reactions convinced him even more about the preservation of the car. Bashing the shop wasn't necessary, since the owner is calling all the shots.

Just my 2 cents here! :D

I know the owner is calling the shots but I'm not bashing the shop, I'm merely outlaying what kind of outfit they are, or would you classify them as a resto shop?
I would hardly call my comment as bashing, bashing the shop would be saying they do crappy work and I never said that. I merely commented the type of work they did. I think most other shops would not even think about adding a fake nos system to that car or adorning it with red wire looms. I know I wouldn't.

See, here we have a civilized conversation and you can say your piece and I say mine. Now I'd still like to know, where did you get the idea I got into a nasty situation with the shop? I'm getting real tired of all the BS floating around.

Fella's, I suppose the main point of concern is the manor of the modifications - As I understood it, there were two NOS kits on the car, the raging bull one, and one ported to the engine??
While NOS is fun, often it gets overdone and the results are major (damage) :eek Be careful!!!

That car was sent back to Old Lyme a few times for upgrades and is really a "one of a kind" auto :D While I trust Arie is having a blast with the car one can only hope he remembers what a significant vehicle he has and cares for it well :upthumbs

re: disagreements on shops, we all have opinions on workmanship and value. While I am not familiar with the shop at hand, I am certain that one of the 3 sides to the story are true :m

Enjoy :v

Oke, judge yourself!

I'm more of a 'form follows function' type, Arie's vette's are show vette's.
If Arie like's this 010 the way it is, that's fine by me, but i liked the "original" (difficult word with this Callaway) better!

Greetings Peter.

While I prefer a compartment a little less busy, adding these (valve covers) may help :cool
I agree on that one! (While I am not shure if #10 came with these covers??).

I do think the red wires are minor 'problems' when we're looking at originality of the car. The red plastic wire covers (looking real cheap) will be replaced with the metal-look ones, like you see in front. Not too much, if you ask me.

Anyway you slice it, whats being done to #10 is an absolute shame.:(

89-010 seems to elicit strong opinions from all who are aware of it. Though i don't always agree with what someone does to their car I firmly believe if
they bought it it is their choice to do with it as they wish. It may though
hurts the value in the future and make more work for someone wanting to
restore it to a former condition. We're pretty used to this with the mid-year Vettes, but it takes a little getting used to watching it happen to C-4's in light of how we view the cars today. :upthumbs Just my observations after 30 years of Covettes

If would be a bit easier to stomach if it wasn't 1 of 1, with no possibility of duplication.

As it is now, I don't think anyone wants to duplicate it!

I'm not a NOS expert (only seen it twice or so) but doesn't it enter the engine in the manifold? Because if the Nos would also be for the engine i would have seen the nos rails to / on the manifold, which i don't..

For the other thing's, the red wire's, cable covers and the braided wire's can all be changed back to "original" That isn't the problem. So the only change that can't be returned to previous is the two holes for the nos injectors in the outlet tubes from the intercoolers. I think that isn't to bad, many people would have busted this callaway already with 600hp..

Greetings Peter.

At least there are a lot of pictures and documentation of when car left Callaway cars after updates which is the mostly likely restoration goal for most serious Callaway collectors. So far no changes that will cost huge $$$$ to restore. :w
