I have a question, my buddy "HrTbeat1" has a chip reader and burner, he's new at this and of course learning more about, and he sent me your way to ask a question for both of us, heres the ques.

He turned off the knock sensor light we believe because I'm putting in a hot cam and gear drive, so the knock sensor had to go, but we were wondering how to turn off or how did he put it............Well,heres the email he sent me, and you'll be able to understand better then I will.............

.....I don't know if turning off the Knock Diagnostic will actually do anything or not. After reading up on it some I think it only turns off the check engine light on the dash if you were getting a code 42, sort of like the code 32 that I was getting for the EGR. The code is still there but it doesn't turn the check engine light on. I think to actually reduce the knock indicator we would have to go in and change the knock attack rate and maybe the knock retard in the tables. You might want to send an email to Jeff (the moderator from the CAC forum) he is a programmer and might know what to work on to reduce the knock sensor for your gear drive. He has been doing this for a while and is really helpful, so maybe he has seen this before. I dont have his email on hand but you can get it from the CAC (VetteXTC is ringing a bell.)..................

So how would we turn off the sensor program on the chip?

Mahalo for your help. :beer

He is right about the Knock Diagnostic.. You also need to change the MAX Knock retard settings to limit or eliminate ECM from pulling timing.

Thanks Jeff. I thought I was heading in the right direction. Trying to help a buddy out and wasn't really sure as to what I was wanting to adjust. Good point about the Max knock retard that was another one of the tables I was looking at.

:_rock You da man ;worship

We'll let you know how things come out later this week hopefully.

Thanks again
