i just moved out to phoenix, AZ, and actually drove my vette out here from new york... beautiful drive, the best i've ever had

anyway, the time has finally come for my pride and joy to recieve a facelift; skin's cracked, starting to peel even... the nicks she took on the road haven't helped much either, so i need some advice on how to take care of her.

she's black right now, the original factory paint too. out here in the desert, i'm thinking yellow would be nicer, and not to mention cooler. only problem is, i've never worked with fiberglass b4... to make things worse, i don't even have a gun or compressor here:( i think the best route is to have it done professionally, so does anyone have recommendations in the phoenix area? also, i'm trying to conserve some cash on this, so i was thinking of sanding it down myself; any fiberglass specific concerns i should take into account?

The Corvette Specialist is located in Phoenix but don't know anything about them. They are listed in our Portal section. Click on the Portal tab at the top >> Repair and Restoration Shops >> Repair Shops >> Arizona.

Want a different color, get a different car.
Just my opinion form when I worked in a paint shop years ago.
Any good paint job will cost $2000.

$2K for a paint job? Where?? I need to know now. Thats the best price I heard since I have my vette. :)

4k-8k

...is more reasonable...
I think if you pay 2k, you aren't going to be too happy with the quality.

Most of the cost of a paint job is the labor of prep-work and actual skill involved with painting. If you pay less, the sacrifice will be in the quality.

Maybe you could find a great paint job at that price (2k) but I think they'd be few and far between.
Good luck.

We had 78 painted in the fall of 2000 for the quoted price of $3,000.00 and after the shop milked me for additional labor, the final price was $4,500.00. They did fix some items after some grumbling, (WA state) but overall I am happy with her exterior.

Material alone for a good paint job is $1000 or more.
