Paint job pricing (does this sound reasonable?)

So, I need a new hood. And the new hood needs to be painted.

I've settled on the stinger-type hood that Vanacor makes for the C3's, and I'm going to have it painted Corvette Light Beige (my car's color) on the hood, and some sort of dark red (matched to my interior trim) on the scoop.

I've discussed this with a local body shop, and he quoted me $600-700, approximately, for the painting (sand, prime, paint first color, paint scoop).

This shop does very good work, and I've had them do work on other (steel-bodied) cars before, so I know they'll do a good job.

But I figured I'd ask you guys: does that seem like a fairly realistic price for the job?

That seems reasonable.Remember those aftermarket fiberglass parts usually need alittle work to make them straight. That is where most of the money will go.Also you may want to pre fit it before you have it painted.

I don't think that includes any adjustment - just prep and paint.

I just put a new hood on my 75 you are going to want to pre fit first very impotant. I sanded and primed my hood and the local shop charged me $300 to paint .

hey paintdaddy,
ive got a question for you. do you know of any reputable paint shops in the west palm, ft lauderdale, miami area? my savings is increasing, and its soon going to be time to paint my vette, i want to start re searching now so when all the $$ is in the bank i can get 'er done
thanks
mike

I dont know Nyone that far south.I would suggest looking here at the cac in the portal area under repair shops or restoration shops.Another good place to look is Hemmings motor news in the services section under restorations.Hope this helps.
