Paint or not

Just wondered what you all thought about painting the intake housing. I cut my air filter lid and painted it but the intake housing looks dull. And by the way I will put a new air filter in before it goes back on the car.

I know there are other ways to "restore" the luster. I wouldn't paint it. Someone will have some advice. What have you tried?

Just cleaned it with mineral spirits.

I just sprayed mine with some Formula 2001 protectant, let it sit, and wiped it off. Gave it a nice dark look.

That what I would do. Armour-All is another choice.
