Paint Progress Pics

Just to recap, I took my 1967 into the paintshop on March 8. It was promised for the end of April but...well we know how that story goes. I was informed yesterday that the paint was on so today I dropped by for a look-see. It is basically naked (no hardware) but it sure does look nice. There is a fitment problem with the BB/stinger hood but apparently that is minor and will be resolved with some shaving/shimming. The hardware will go on beginning this week and I should take delivery mid-next. As I have not driven the car since last October I look forward to that event very much!

Thanks for those comments fellows. I'm hoping to be on the road soon to help local Police late in May with their "Take it to the Track" program. That encourages young people to race at the track and not on the streets. I helped out last August and very much enjoyed the experience.

you would think so after all this time, but no........

I just stopped in about an hour ago expecting to see color on her but not yet. He was workinng on her some more when I drove up. Sanding and still nitpicking little areas.
he says she WILL be painted this week and assembly next week so I'm hoping! I reminded him I had 2 shows I really, really wanted to go to next weekend (21st and 22nd) and he said he will do his best to try and get me there.

Paul, looks terrific! I've always liked the dark greens (had a Glen Green '65 coupe and my '69 Z/28 is Fathom Green), and yours is stunning with the saddle interior - great combination!

Thanks John. The Emperor has no Clothes exercise can be hard on the nerves as who knows what lies beneath the exterior paint on these old cars? I saw the car stripped and it did have what seemed to be a minor shopping centre altercation in the area of the driver's front fender parking lamp panel. There was a minor bonding strip crack there. No frame contact at all. The bodyshop says the 'glass repairs were professionally done with the correct materials and just a little tidying up was necessary. I wish these darn cars could speak of their history. The rest of the car was rock solid for which I am thankful.

I have gone base/clear as I was tremendously impressed by the durability of the DuPont Chroma Premier paint on my former 1979 L-82. It was painted in 2000 and looks just fine to this day. Seems almost immune to stone chips. I expect criticism on this from some NCRS types (I am a member) but darn it the vehicle is driven and not for show. And being a NOM base-engine 327, Powerglide it is a bit of an orphan in any case. ProTeam will not be knocking on the door for this 1967.

who cares what anyone else thinks, especially Pro Team.
It's YOUR car and you are the only one that needs to love it.

BTW, I agree with John, that color combo is a great. A few years ago my daily driver car was a darkish green with a beige interior.

The third weekend in May (21-23) is a long one here in Canada. It is called Victoria Day weekend going back to British colonial days. But more importantly it has traditionally celebrated the end of killer frosts in Canada; at least in this part of the country. So the gardeners (I am an avid one) dedicate that weekend to getting the plants (flowers and vegetables) in the ground. But it is also my traditional Corvette rite of spring when I take the first great drive with the Wife after the mechanical things from the five-month winter storage have been sorted out. And there are always some. Love those shrunken rubber seals. Good luck!

I enjoyed looking at your car pic and can only imaging what it will be when finished, everyone always says corvettes are red but when you see your color it is awsome and proves them wrong.

I'm an NCRS type and I gotta say.........Great! Great looking color. One of my favorites. I spent a lot of time trying to find that color combo, it was my first choice. As for the rest of the engine and stuff, who cares. I think that anyone keeping our midyears on the road oughta be applauded.

I agree with everyone else, Paint looks great, matched the interior work last year great, it is a good thing that Ed did such a nice job on the frame, or that would have to be next years job. Where is your painter located?

You have a long memory! (For other readers I bought this car in Pennsylvania in 2003 and had it shipped to Canada.) Ed T did a wonderful job of keeping that frame looking like new. I have pics of one of his spring frame polishing jobs. I still keep in touch with him.

So the frame is like new. I did the interior a year ago. The paint is basically the last step for me. My bank account has taken a bit of a hit but given the car was so meticulously maintained by Ed, that hit was minimized. I'm not as adventuresome as others when it comes to restoration and set out four years ago to buy the most C2 I could for a reasonable price. When this car came along I finally bit the bullet.

The paintshop is located about 1 1/2 hours west of Montreal.
