Well I got the car all ready for the paint shop now all I have to do is make my final decision on what I want to do with it. I shaved all my handles, emblems, antenna, etc.... I replaced my mirrors with sport mirrors and added a rear wing. I mounted some chrome sidepipes and kept all my chrome trim. I have my mind set basically on an all black paintjob with pearl red stripes. But when I was looking at it today in grey primer I gotta say I really love the flat look. I think it really adds to the streamline look of the car and makes it look like fiberglass instead of metal. Is there any way I can paint it a flat black, or low gloss black without being a PITA to clean? I know on the hoods of mach 1 mustangs of the past it was a flat black and regular wax ruined it. Any ideas?

The guys over at the vintage mustang forum that my brother uses recommended using 50-60% flattner agent in the clear coat. Has anyone ever heard of this stuff before?

paint suggestion

just call or e-mail some paint companies and tell them what you are after. who mixes paint in your are for the bodyshops? many shops mix their own paint and they might be willing to at least offer some advice. Don't you hate it when no one responds to your posts - it has happened to me as well:m

Hi: There's a car club here where all of the cars (not necessarly Vettes) that have primer paint jobs. They will never paint 'em anything else except primer. Either black, gray, red primer. They use clear over theirs to procect the primer jobs. Some of the rides really do look cool like this. They even have graphics (scallops, flames, pinstrip, etc), but the basic color is "PRIMER"
