Should I repaint my 79 with the factory blue or should I get a more custom paint like House of Kolor or something.

Historical value of your 1979?
Originality of your 1979?

If your 79 doesn't have much historical value or has been modified...I'd paint it whatever color you want! You ONLY have to please yourself. There are people who reside in the "original only" camp and others who "modify to their heart's content".

I modify, but I do like the exterior of my '78 to look original. However, if mine was NOT a Silver Anniversary, I'd have painted it whatever color I liked best.
Either the 78 or me will be dead before someone else gets their hands on it and I'm here to please myself. After I'm gone, somone else can do what they want, but while it is mine...I make the decisions.

Let us know what you pick! There are some fabulous blues out there...

i agree with heidi, it's your car, do with it what makes you happiest. if you could prove it had some special significance (one of a kind, first or last one built in 79, only one with pink seat belts, whatever) then it might behoove you to keep it original to the "N"th degree (whatever in hell that is, lol). if not, paint it in stripes if that's what makes you happy!! you have it to enjoy it!!

Sorry couldnt resist, but really, if you want to change color, have fun, however, a radical change means a lot of work painting those areas the spray guns miss, I still have patches of red and blue when the doors are open.

Cheers

I agree with Richard. My son would love for me to paint my car red. A lot of time and expense getting all those spots. For that reason I'm going with the original blue.

I found out that my 68 was so late in the production line, it actually received a 69 color which was new for that year only. Also, it had been painted 3 other colors since that time by various owners. I'm yet painting it another color. But like others have said, its your choice. BTW... House of Colors & PGP is typically your best products for custom painting. That's what I'm currently using for my new paint. It about one day from being completed. It sill needs buffed and waxed, but it already looks like a sheet of glass has been wrapped around the body!
