here's a few pics of the vette since the paint and partial re-assembly. let me know what you think.mike

Wow! :eek I love that blue. What exactly is it called? Maybe it was just the picture, but is it a candy blue?

it's nason bc/cc electron blue metallic pearl with 4 coats of clear. and that's pretty much the color, looks like medium blue in the light , but looks royal blue at night.

Did you paint that in your garage? Can you post some pics of how you set it up?

Im looking at doing the same thing.

lots of plastic and clean ,clean, clean up had the fan about 4 feet away from the window out it's own hole this way you don't draw air over the car , just across the bottom of the room and the flow draws out the fumes.

Wow Mike!

Looks good.

I have used my garage to paint also. Lots of plastic, I used 3 box fans on the floor (up on blocks) pointing out with the door partly up and my kids outside with a hose to keep all the dust down. I also flooded the floor with water before I started. It worked well.

Very nice Mike are you going to paint the bumper guards black?

Yeah i love electronblue, ive had it since it came out, looking great.I like how some times it looks dark at night but inthe sun its so electric.

well i definitely want the bumper guards black but there's still a lot of interior work to do yet so it's not on the now list.
at first i wanted a clean look , but looking at it now i think it may need a stripe or something to finish it off, but i'm not sure what that something is .any suggestions??? i've seen the stripe on the hood scoop edges but i'm unsure about what color. maybe a skunk stripe from tip to tail??
as far as the spray booth goes, there is a certain amount of dust in the finish, that's the reason for the 4 coats of clear, these dustspecks(and the whole car) will be sanded with 1,200 wet paper and buffed with 3m perfect it 3 rubbing compound.this will remove all dust and will flatten out the reflection as well as give you that mile deep look to the paint.

Did you paint is with the hood and doors attached? If so, how did you address the door jambs and the edges of the hood?

I had someone try to break into my car They destroyed the t-tops and never made it into the car. I have hard tops on it now that need painting so I'm going to practice with them and would eventually like to paint the car myself.

Looks awesome Mike :D

Beautiful choice for the color!

thanks guys, blue 82 i painted and cleared the inside of the doors , the door jambs, the hood lip edge ,and the t-top lip first.I had the doors and hood off for this .once the inside the doors and the jambs were finished i intalled them and taped them . the hood was painted separately while the car was being done.the outside of the doors were sprayed on the car at the time of painting.
doing this you get a small edge but it's better than overspray.

That was a smart way to solve several issues. Thanks for the answer / info. That's a great color by the way.

I got word from "the boss" that she wants me to get a C5 after we pay off her Suburban. The price is headed my way and Electron Blue is the color I'm after.

How much paint did it take to coat your vette? How much primer, base and clear?

it took 4 qts of 2k primer and the hardener, a gallon of base & hardener,6 quarts of clear coat nd the hardener. the entire job done with nason cost about $600.00 american.
