hello all,

got a new set of chrome plated zr1 wheels (delivery wednesday) now the 85
wheels cover pretty much all of the brake parts, my problem now is there
is gonna be alot showing now. yesterday i pulled of the ds frt wheel to check
out the condition of brake system. to my suprise everything is really pretty
clean, i was wondering if anyone has painted or has tried to paint there
calipers what luck they had and what they used.. i am lookin for a nice brite
red for the calipers and the mounting brackets........want to do a nice job
not make em look cheesy

any and all help would be greatly appreciated

thanks
chris

Forget painting and do the job right. Get the calipers cleaned and powder coated and replace all the seals.

I've done about 5 sets of calipers and they last against the elements and track use.

I put on the GS calipers and had the hubs and rear rotors re-done with black caliper paint on my '96 and it looks 100% better...

If replacment isn't a option I agree with JeffVette powercoating is king and probably cheap considering the size of the piece. Then just reseal them

I also bought a set of ZR1 wheels. I used Plasti-kote Brake Caliper Paint (red) which worked great. Even cleaning the brake dust that will still collect on the calipers is easy. It took me about 6 hours to clean, primer and paint the calipers and brackets but the final result was worth it. You can get the paint at Pep Boys.

painting

gonna go with the brake and rotor paint. the majority of the budget has been
ate up by the wheels and tire and the rest is gonna get use to freshen up
the paint. the car has been painted one before but hasnt stood well here
in the north (lots of paint chips from cinders) here are some before pics and my
group

Plumcrazy,
How did you get that color on the calipers. Sweet. Just posted a couple pictures of my 87.
