I just finished rebuilding my Trailing arms.......and Guess what........the Parking Brakes are not going in the way they are Supossed to. So I am asking, who is here does not have Working Parking Brakes (Emergency Brakes).??
I am thinking of just leaving all of that stuff off. They have not worked in about 15 years any way.

I cheated and bought the T-arms with PB assembly... all I had to do was slide on the new rotor and adjust. If you have Auto trans.. no big deal to ditch them.... if manual, you really should consider PBs!

Do you guys not have to keep the car fully functional??? to be road legal???

Not trying to be smart (promise :)) but I continously read on the threads about wipers, brakes and other stuff that people have either disconnected and/or just removed because they dont work or just arent there!

As stated elsewhere, in NZ we have a roadworthy test every 6 months, where the test wipers, brakes (incl E Brake) by rolling load test, headlights, exhaust, suspension, steering, SEAT BELTS (aarrgghh!!!), interior fittings, indicators, brake lights, window winders etc etc.

If there is one part that doesnt work or fails to perform to a preset minimum standard, you have 28 days to remedy and get it re-checked, or the car is deemed illegal to drive on the road until fixed, and carries a $200 instant fine if caught. Also invalidates your insurance should something happen during that time.

Sorry just venting (read frustrated) GoodLuck on the E Brake.

Might be easier asking whose parking brake DOES work properly. Answer - close to nobody. They weren't worth a toss when new, why would they work better now?

In the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, US of A the annual inspections are done by licensed service stations not government outposts. Being the world headqurters of capitalism, market forces still holds sway. Personally, I would never drive a car that was dangerous as in brakes wipers lights tires etc but the ebrake is another story all together. I have never had much luck with getting them 100% functional even after a total rebuild last winter. Last years inspection required a well placed $20 discreetly in the inspectors hand, this year the inspector was younger than my car and as I am emmissions exempt once he checked all the lights he was too busy asking questions about the car to do much else and the ebrake went unchecked. Besides, 1st gear covers about 99.9% of real world situations and a well placed block works in a pinch for the other .1%. I think you may want to consider emigrating to a country sans the ball busting bi-annuals.
