A brief history... I was going to do a front and rear suspension rebuild earlier this year, and discovered a rust hole in the frame. Took the body off and found more rust than I could overcome. A few months of saving cash and investigating sources of parts resulted in my ordering a frame back half from Vette Products of Michigan. It finally arrived yesterday and it is a great looking piece. "While I was at it", I got new S/S brake lines, fuel line, clips, new wheel cylinders and brake hardware.
Now it's time to get back to work on the old girl. Have to cut off the rear clip behind the trans crossmember and weld the new back half on. Once that is done, it'll be time to start reassembly. Should be done for the first nice day next spring.
I'll post picks once I get started.
I've got a question on size and placement of VIN on my new frame section. When I weld in the new section, the old VIN's will be gone and I would like to duplicate the two VIN's on the left frame rail. My old frame was so rusted in these areas, it's impossible to tell what size stamps were used. I know its not original anymore, but I'd like to retain the VIN's in the correct size and format.
