I recently purchased an 85 vette. The passenger side headlight acts like it is trying to cycle as if a sensor is not telling the motor it is in the up position. The light stays in the open position, as it should, but every 30 seconds or so the light blinks as if the motor is drawing current. Could it be the headlight opening actuator module? How do you test the actuator? Or is the motor going bad?

There is a limit switch at the end of the motor armature that is supposed to close at end of travel

Use Vettoz drawing to see the wiring....once you open the drive motor case, you will see the limit switch. A little mercury switch mounted on the armeture housing. There is one for each direction.
It will have to be placed back in "time" manually with the switches working right, then it'll be ok.
Sometimes a switch gets out of its position and this can happen.
I had one that one lite rolled up as the other rolled down...could not have both in the same place.....limit switch.

Welcome onto the boards there...

The blinking light could be the motor starting to turn again, but I bet that that's not the case there. I bet also your motor is NOT bad there.

Some pics here, but this is for '88 - '96 assembly, which has slightly different mechanics.

Some more schematics for testing with notes superimposed here.

Thanks to all who replied, I am going to try the switches, I had the motor apart before and the gears looked good. I want to get it right before the weather breaks. Can't wait for spring!!! Glad to be a member.:)
