The passenger side power window switch on my '90 coupe quit working. Motor is o.k. as it works when activated from the driver's side switch. Anyone ever have a similiar problem? If not, would anyone know if I have to removed the entire door panel to check the switch/wiring or does the switch housing come off w/o removing the entire panel? If anyone has a diagram from a shop manual and could e-mail it to me, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for any help.

If you haven't messed with any wiring and everything worked in the past your problem is the passengerside switch is bad.

Post your e-mail address or fax number and I can send you the schematic.

Thanks for the reply and the offer to help. I would guess maybe the switch has been damaged by water. I am replacing the amp on the passenger side door, and the back of the circuit board shows evidence of getting wet. Possibly water leaked down the passenger side window.

My e-mail is: rharrison@bichemicals.com and the fax is 1-804-504-8785.

Info. faxed @ 16:15 est.

Not sure about the switch removal. It may pop out. If not
there about 8 screws and couple bolts that need to be removed to pull the door panel off.

You don't have to take off panel. Gently put small screwdriver or shim on left side of switch push towards switch and then gently pull up.

Absolutely, also the switch can be taken apart. Any moisture on the contacts tend to build a film or oxidation which is easily removed. I use a small dremel with a wire brush....makes it good as new and saves a few dollars.

Fix Passenger window switch yourself

This switch, like the drivers side door switch, corrodes with time. Chances are good, these switches can be cleaned up for many more years of service. See images below... as previously said, you DO NOT have to remove the door panel, just gently pry out the switch assembly and pull the two unique wire plugs.

Nice Pics! Isn't it great to be able to take things apart and make them like new again. A few cars are still like this but not many. Saves a ton of money over the long haul.

You are so right Robert. My rule... keep "her" (my lady and I named the car E'Vette cause she is a spoiled diva) as original as possible and save money so it can go in the tank.
