Does anyone know what I can tell the dealer that gives them this information ? I referenced the TSB #03-06-04-060A ( Feb 12, 2007 ) when the dealer looked it up it just mentions the new plugs and talks about the gap. It does not say anything about a PCM reflash ? ;squint:

HI there,
Give the dealership your VIN, then tell them to look up the latest calibration ID for your vehicle.
Then, have them take a Tech 2 outside to your car and look up the calibrations in the PCM.
If the 2 numbers do NOT match, you know you need the upgrade.
Oh, and BTW, when they look up your calibration, you will see the part number for the calibration and the description.

Update on PCM downloads. 1. 12221588 New software to address deceleration stalling. 2. 9358658 New calibration to reduce spark knock. 3. 9359037 Calibration to prevent setting of false DTC P1133 and P1155 4. 9358320 Transmission calibration. 5. 16264440 Transmission diagnostic calibration. 6. 16264703 New calibration to address customer complaints of erratic fuel Gauge. 7. 9373562 System calibration. 8. 9362196 Calibration to correct RTD failure not controlling to specified speed. I don't pretend to know what all of these mean but I was surprised how many updates were availible ! I would advise anyone to to this as a normal maintanence update if you have never done it. I did not have any specific problems with my car I just wanted it updated. Also shop around for pricing, I went to three dealers and one was cheaper than the other two by 30.00 dollars. Now I will do the install of the Iridium Plugs. Again thanks to " The Specialist " for the info !

5thgen, If you don't mind, could you give us a ball park figure from the dealer to do that, and how long are we talking about..........do I have to leave the Vette, or is it short enough to wait for.
Thanks.......
Andy

HI there,
Someone claims $30, be very afraid.
It takes at LEAST 35-45 mins to CORRECTLY upload calibrations on c5.
This is because all data is transmitted over one wire.
Each computer system has to be ISOLATED with a special tool to correctly program.
1 hour is a FAIR estimate.

Two dealers quoted me $83.00 the other $53.00 guess which one I took ? I was there 45 minutes. I was first in at 8am and they got right to it.

5th....... did you notice any changes, good or bad, from before to after?
I've owned mine for 2 years and have never had a reflash done. I didn't
even know about this until I read this post, so maybe I should be checking this out.
Andy

Have not noticed anything yet, all I did was drive home from the dealer clean the car up ( I'am very anal about that ! :D ) and put it away in the garage. She's not my daily driver, but I will post any changes that I notice.

Changed plugs to the 41-985's last weekend and so far have noticed that the car shifts much more readily due to PCM update I'm sure. Acceleration has improved as well ! Hit the gas and she really wants to run ! The plug change was not bad at all, from other posts on the subject I thought it was supposed to be tough ? Driver side was more difficult of course but all in all I was done in a half hour. Not bad for the first time on this car ! The only other thing I have ever done was put a Z06 intake on it. Will post more if I notice anything. Nick

If there is a 2 week gap between changing plugs, and getting the pcm reflashed, am I looking for problems? Or is this an immediete part of the process? Thanks. mark

The way I understand the re flash is only a recommendation and not a mandatory thing. I think you will not have any problems driving it with out re flashing for as long as you wont.

Exactly right . You don't have to do it I just did it as part of normal maintenance. Nick
Thanks gang, It seems that I am learning something new about these cars every day. I will look into having it reflashed after I install the Irridiums. I just didn't know if the car would run differently with the updated plugs w/o the pcm reflash. mark
