Performance chips what do you recomend for a 1990 l98 6 speed

What are you looking to do, and is your motor basically stock??

Yes the motor is stock. This is my daily driver so just looking for a little more. Also want to turn off the coggs system. I have it kinda unhooked but the light still comes on, 1-4 shift.

There are many thing that can be overcome with tuning. A simple internet search will reveal may tuners out there.

I would love to get rid of that 1-4 shift. Will a tune cure that?

I don't know for sure but I would imagine it can be done.

I have a burner and a cable with the software but no clue were to start.
The 1-4 shift is a simple toggle function when you burn the new chip.

Use a program like TunerCat.
WinBin will do it also.

Go into the E.C.M. Constants, then to C.A.G.S. Enable Coolant Temp.

It's normally set around 50C, turn it all the way up and it will never enable unless your engine gets really hot.

You won't have to adjust anything else, Like TP.

While you're in there, turn off EGR Enable (error 32) in ECM Constants, this will prevent a check engine if you have the EGR disabled.

Turn your fans on and off temps down so the fans will start cooling earlier, if you have a 180F TStat, not below 84C or they'll never cut off.
