Performance difference between long tube and shorty headers

What's up people?
I've been wondering what is the performance advantage of long tube headers versus shorty headers. I'm trying to learn more about how these upgrades we need so much do their job. Any knowledge you can pass on would be greatly appreciated.

The shorty headers are basically cleaned up exhaust manifolds. For the money and power gains, it isn't worth it. Maybe 5-10hp gain?

The true power gain would be with long tube headers. Yes, they do cost much more than the shorties, but the gain is worth it. I'm thinking in the 15-20hp gain area. Of course, that's assuming that you would change out the stock mufflers for performance mufflers.
