Hi everyone, I'm new to this forum, and relatively new to the whole Corvette scene, although vettes have always been my favorite car even when growing up in England (now live in Long Beach, CA). I have a 97 auto coupe all stock, recently I drove a 2003 ZO6, I loved it but cannot afford a new one. What mods could I make to an automatic C5 to make it perform similar to a ZO6?? I have seen numerous sites such as covette mikes, west coast corvette and Lingenfelter that offer 'performance Packages' how good are these really?? Thanks in advance........

How much do you want to spend?

Nos is one , Super Charger is two , 3000 Stall converter 1.6 str ,3:42 rear gear , Larger MAF , Larger throttle body , Power duct tube , Vararam air induction system and some sticky tires is three . If you go to one of the companies you mention , it will cost you but they will also get you there . Do a before and after test and post reults .

Guys, thanks for your replies. Regarding how much I want to spend, looks like the packages range from $1300 (exhuast/air intake/hypertech)- $6800 : Lingenfelter Installed Engine Packages

430 BHP / 400 lbs-ft of torque

Package includes:
• Engine removal, inspection and disassembly
• CNC porting & polishing of cylinder heads
• LPE valve springs and lightweight valve spring retainers
• Stainless steel intake/exhaust valves
• Three angle valve job, set correct spring tensions & heights
• Custom designed LPE hydraulic roller camshaft
• Professional installation, testing and tuning
• Stainless steel exhaust by Corsa Performance
• Donaldson washable air inlet system
• Chassis dyno testing after installation
• LPE’s 2 year / 24,000 mile warranty

1997 - 2002 Corvette package price $6,895.00
I'm really most interested in getting my 0-60 up near the 3.9sec mark. My 97 has 62k already, so my dillema is should I keep a 97 with $700 monthly payment, or sell it and purchase a newer c5 maybe 2000/2001, or save up a bit more and just get a zo6 and not bother with modifying the engine.....

Since your in California if you decide to modify your car you should use A A Andy.

He's the best value in the country and located in California..

Much..much better then LPE..and certainly something to consider on a 1997 C5..

Dont' forget if you go heads and cam..with an automatic ..you need to change the torque convertor and most probably the gears..(Yank 3500 and 3:42 gears installed about 3000 dollars installed.)Heads and cam cars with automatics require a torque convertor since the power band moves upward.

You need to decide if you want an automatic sports car...or a stick shift..

Automatic sports car = Cam =1600 installed (including ls1edit)
Torque convertor and gears =2500
Headers = 1200

Approximately 390 rwhp or 450rwhp

11.9 @ 117mph estimate in quarter mile.

If you want a road racing type sports car for diving into corners..then sell your ride and buy a stick shift..I find it much more controllable going in and out of corners hard.

I highly recommend AA Andy for his reputation throughout the net. If you need his email or phone number..try a search..or let me know to see if I can dig it up.

He's one of the true pioneers in Corvette performance values..

Hey, Mate

I lived in England for two years myself. I saw a couple of horsepower hot packs offered in the MidAmerica catalog for $499.00. You can check them out at www.madirect.com
I lived in East Anglia, RAF Lakenheath Brandon, Suffolk. Had a good time when I was there. Cambridge, was my favorite spot to hang out. We would rent a punt, take it down the river and stop at every pub along the way. Yes, a pub crawl that included darts and swearing.

Thanks for the replys, you guys are awesome. I will definately check out AA Andy.....

Why not just bold on a supercharger and change nothing else? Most kits out ther are $5000- $6000....
