Hey There Everyone,

I would really appreciate any suggestions about increasing the performance (0 to 100) on my 1998 automatic C5 Coupe. I mostly want better performance from a standing stop and don't mind losing some off the top end.
So far I have added a Blackwing Induction System and a cat-back B&B Tri-flow exhaust. Otherwise, everything is stock.
I am considering everything from a performance differential (2.73 at present) to a supercharger but want to get the most performance bang for the buck. Am also looking at headers.
I don't want to race at the track but just want to keep the guys driving Vipers humble!

Thanks,

Dave

I just installed 3:42 gears in my Vette , it really woke it up, good luck Jim.

i agree with jim d. from what you're saying the 3:42 would be perfect for your car.

i've also heard a lot of good stuff about long tube headers...they'd probably be a great compliment to the black wing and b&b.

good luck, and keep us posted as to what mods you do. i'm at the very beginning stages of starting to make a few minor mods to my 98...i just ordered the black wing, and i can't wait for it to get here.

there's a lot of people at the cac with heavily moded vettes, so the advice should start pouring in.

Hey there Jim D,

Thanks for the advice about the 3.42 perf diff. Westcoast Corvettes has a 3.42 for $895 with a core charge of $850. What do you think about this deal?
Also, did the 3.42 greatly affect your top end?

Thanks for the feedback,

Dave P

Hi Tom,
It was good to hear from a fellow '98er. Noticed you were born in London. My wife, son and I just returned from there on vacation. Loved it and plan on returning as soon as possible.
I think you'll really benefit from the Black Wing..let me know what you think of it.
Our answer to your two killer dachshunds is our two killer Shi-Tzus, Bagby and Clyde. Clyde is my 'vettin buddy.
Concerning my upgrades at this point my game plan is to change to a 3.42 diff and add some FLP header tubes and see how much power they add before I do anymore.
Also, I have several friends in the St. Louis office that "shoot Sigs"
You may know them...Dieter, Joel and Phil...?

Thanks again and Safe 'vettin'!

Dave P

A Nitrous system will kick it in the pants for just a few bucks.

london is a great place to visit...we'll be going back for a week next summer...although, you don't see a lot of vettes there. my cousin almost fell on his a** when i told him the vette had a 5.7...they think anything bigger than a 2.0 is huge.:J

i'm looking forward to the blackwing...i wish it would get here so i could hurry up and install it.

let us know what mods you go with an what you think of them...particularly the headers, i'm curious as to how hard of an install that is. also, how do you like your b&bs, i'm still undecided about what i'm going to do for exhaust?

by the way, welcome to the cac...i think you'll enjoy it and you'll find the people here both freindly and an invaluable resource of information.

I bought the rear off a forum member it was a low milage out of a Z06, paid $550. for the rear and $450 for the install. I don't know if I lost any top end , because I bought it to give the wippersnappers a jawdrop at the light, and have done so. Jim.
