This morning was the real test as I drove it to work (the usual route) and got to experience what I was up against w/ daily driving. Not one scrape although I do have to watch the front air-dam when backing out of the driveway (have one of those slanted curbs). Also throughout our residential area we have those little drainage channels (kinda like the opposite of a speed bump) that run acroos the side streets and I dont want to take those head on moving too fast. Take any considerable bumps sideways and slowly and I'm good to go. Once I'm rolling at a good clip any slight deviations in the road are not a problem cuz the car is plenty stiff & I still have plenty of clearance underneath.
Man the car feels great! The KYB's are the perfect balance between stiffness and comfort. The car has no "float" at all. I highly recommend them as a replacement shock for a C4. At $135 a set...you gotta love it. I was worried (kinda like w/ the Magnaflow) that the lower price would get me an inferior product but I opted for both and I have no regrets at all. I was this close to buying the Z51 Bilsteins or the Edelbrock Perfomers at twice the price.
Between the lowering & the KYB's my car handles/rides like a dream, and yes, all in all I spent some money but I got the look, the ride
, & the handling
all in one sweet package!
Definite anxiety factor when I went to pick up the car but once I saw it and especially after I drove it I knew....YES GOOD CHOICE!!!!!!! Thx CAC cuz I wouldn't have done it had I not had the help (Kaluna), insight (Vettelt193), and experience (CAC members/ going through old posts) from you all!
Man, I love this site!![]()
It should be mandatory for a 'vette owner to join the CAC. GREAT MEMBERS & everything you ever needed to know about your car!
Can you say HELL YEAH?![]()

Looks great man! You have the wheels and tires sitting right at the right spot in the wheel well, looks like it should. Nice fit. :cool BTW the guy you are talking about, his name is Kalani (DaHawaiianPunch), he is really a great guy. I'm sure he was happy to help you out, or at least give you some advise / tips.

Chris Kennedy said:This is great news about the KYBs and the lowering. One thing that I have found, like you did, is that there often is NO correlation between price and the quality of the product when it comes to our cars. Also, the same can be said about service on the car---that is, often the Corvette "boutiques" and specialist operations do the worst work, whereas some of the scuzziest little garages are terrific. Like lots of things in life, you sort of have to be up to trying things that seem right to you, notwithstanding peer pressures. For our cars, the pressures are people saying that you MUST buy x, y or z product (which is usually the highest priced), or you are a klutz. Have you seen the situation where people do this, then claim to the MUST crowd that they like the product when they actually are disappointed, and then several months later quietly switch back to something else? It's hysterical! One thing I do like about the CorvetteCenter is that this group is pretty good about not getting caught up in this sort of thing. The whole shock absorber thread is a case in point.

I love the look, nice job!!! did you put longer bolts on the back yet to drop it down some? which ever the case, nicely done.
It wasnt that difficult was it? just a little time consuming.
JEFNLSA said:Ohhhh Kalani. Where the heck did I come up w/ Kaluna? Must have been thinking of Kahlua![]()

Hrtbeat1 said:Maybe you were thinking Kahuna (expert, professional, or one with vast knowledge)Since Kalani is the Big Kahuna on lowering Corvettes.
