Ever since I first got my car, I hated the rims. They were ugly, boring and ugly...did I mention ugly? Anyway, I had been planning on getting some new ZR-1 style rims so I didn't bother trying to fix up the old ones. Well it doesn't look like I will be getting thoes ZR-1 rims anytime soon, so I decided to clean up the originals.
I first got the idea from a thread about polishing wheels in this forum. So with the aid of some Mother Aluminum and Mag Polish, I went to work. Next were the center caps, they were gray when I got the car. I never really took the time to look at them and just assumed the paint was all worn off. Upon closer inspection, someone had just painted over them with drab gray spraypaint! After I took some nail polish remover to them, I saw why...they were pretty scrathed and worn. I had to replace them with some new ones from our friends at The Last Detail.
I'm still debating on wether I should paint the middle black like the stock 84s. I also plan on getting some new chrome lugs.
Well here's the final product next to the original. The image is pretty large, so let it load.
I'm very pleased with how they came out.
