Pics of the red C8 convertible from Hot Rod Power Tour

Had some fun with photoshop... it looks alright, but not great.

I wish some C8 owners would send me some high quality pics, these web size ones are terrible for photoshopping. I thought the owner of the silver prototype was going to take some for me, but for some reason he stopped responding to my emails. ;shrug

That's too bad 89x2! Keep me updated.

Here's some great news, I scanned my brochure today at work and the scans came out amazing! (Well, after some amazing moire pattern removal in Jasc Paintshop Pro). I scanned them in at 800 DPI so I have some gigantic pictures filling up an entire CD. I'm definitely printing a poster of the silver one, for my wall. My image is actually large enough that I could print a LIFE SIZE version at a quality just below Magazine quality if I wanted to, but that would be incredibly expensive and would be higher quality if I had the actual slide/negative of the picture to scan.

Unfortunately, the front and back covers have light streaking on them from one of the scanners. I used a regular sized scanner for them, the others I used a double page spread scanner. The XL scanner was extremely slow, but the quality was amazing. 250 MB images per double page spread O_O. For your reference, I believe I used an Epson Expression 800 (regular size) and Epson Expression 830 XL (large). They are quite old, but have an optical resolution of 800 DPI so they are still amazing.

Anyway, check the pics (they are all resized obviously, I couldn't upload them at original size). I nearly threw up when I saw how good the moire pattern removal tool worked. Photoshop can't do that, and the Noise Ninja plug-in certainly can't either! I couldn't possibly be happier about paying $18 for the brochure now.

I know that car!

I love when somebody recognizes my C8 as a Callaway, and not just some Camaro with a body kit. The car is indeed the first complete C8 ever built, as the silver Motor Trend photo car was not actually a C8, but a Camaro with the Aerobody kit. I beleive it was PD's car, and now has a SNAT.

This car has several one off parts, such as the fiberglass honker, and the machined C8 valve covers. This engine was the one photographed for the C8 brochure.

The magazine that it was featured in was the Nov 94 issue (#100) of Sports Car International. You can order them directly from SCI

There is some confusion over production, but it looks like 16 C8's were built over the 3 years, with 9 of them built new as complete cars.

I had a blast driving it on Power Tour 06 and 03. I took a 95 SNAT T-Top Camaro on Power Tour 02(sold it for the 94), a 96 SNAT Coupe (only 96 A4) in 05, and I had the 94 vert, a 95 vert, and the 96 coupe all displayed in a row in Gainesville. I also saw a 1987 TT #2 at the track, but never saw it again for the rest of the tour.

I will try to upload some video of the Callaway on PT 06

I'd love to see the video CallawayC8! If you can't upload it to a website such as www.youtube.com please email me the video (brangeta@gmail.com) and I'll find someplace to put it.

I just saw the video of the car my friend took and some still pics which he *promises* to email me later on...

He swore it was two ladies driving the C8 on Power Tour 2006 :confused

Also caught on video, the owner of the black w/ red 1988 B2K convertible w/ FL Lic plate "Club 200" and a frame claiming the entry into the "200 mph club" was talking about the specifics of his car -

He said he got a deal on ebay and truly believes it to be an original car the way is sat...
Don't know what else to say... http://www.corvetteactioncenter.com/forums/showthread.php?t=28767&highlight=dynotech

Haha cool videos! But poor Mark!

Need more Callaway in the videos though! :lou

More Callaways

My brother made these for Mark to doccument his misery, but he is compiling more video of just the Callaway, as well as the gathering of them in Gainesville. These videos above unfortunately show our worst behavior. Other than the burnout, the rest of the videos are just great running shots of the cars. I can't wait to show the one of the car with the camera attached to the side driving along the Blueridge Mountains. It is great. The camera clips onto the inside of the rear wheel well, so it does not leave any marks on the car. I don't think it will work on Vettes, as they have no returned flanges (fiberglass!)

Cool, I can't wait to see the rest of the videos.
