I dunno how many people saw about what happened to my car when i posted about it on Corvetteforum. Anyway, Nov 16th a deer hit me at 1am, and did $11k in damage. Member SloRvette here owns a shop so i had no second thoughts about bringing the car to him.

So, now that some major progress is coming along I stopped at SloRvette's shop this evening with Mr. Magoo.. Almost barfed a few times..

Here she is, in all her glory..

Nothing better looking than a missing bumper and a primer hood... NOT!

A missing rear bumper is even worse!

Except when you find your build sheet still intact and in good condition!!

You may think that it looks bad now. Have you ever seen one that was painted WITHOUT taking off the bumpers. It is a common trick for budjet body shops. The paint bridges over the crack and continues to crack for ever. It looks like they know what they are doing on your car. Good Luck:eek

Mervz,

Anythoughts on running a GS stripe up the hood and tail while you are already in the paint phase?

How about having him take clear with straight pearl and create the GS stripe, then clear over the whole car as he is going to do anyway. Now, it will look stock, but when the light hits it the pearl GS stripe would flash like it was being struck by lightning?

As some of you may know I am in the insurance business, and I know this kind of a thing is very frustrating. It amazes me how much damage a deer can do. You are othewise lucky because often run ins with a deer usually end up much worse for the driver.

Around here it happens on the back two lane roads an usually the car goes off the road after the impact with the deer and gets up front and personal with a couple of large pine trees.

Looking good though, and he is doing it the right way. By taking the car that far apart, you won't have tell tale signs when it is finished that it was ever in a prior collision.

Hey Zane, did you get any pics of the 64 thats being restored??

Mervz,

Looks like you have some pros doing the work.. Hope you are back on the road soon.

racecar: I'm lucky to have Paul doing this. I have no worries it will come out great! (anyother shop and i would be stressing my head off)

69MyWay: Naw, i just want to keep it clean and original. If i want a GS (And believe me its on the list), then someday i'll get one.

PleasurePig: Sorry Chris, no pics. I should be back down there a week from tomorrow, i'll grab some then.

Wegon: Thanks buddy!

JonM: I'm that anxious. The car's just going to be trailered back up here to sit untill spring anyways.. :cry

barkingowl: Your welcome! Thanks for caring!

Yikes; it would sure scare the crap outta me to see my Vette like that!! Happy that you know a real pro in the repair field to put your Vette back together gain. I'm sure when SloRvette is done, it will look fabulous.

ctfoodguy: I'm very lucky
newbie: The police shot the deer in the head, so the meat would have been useless.
Rabbit: The deer was shot afterwards. Three of its legs were crushed, and the head was beaten up pretty bad. :puke
