I have an '85 Coupe with 37K on it that is leaking small amts of diff fluid on my garage floor. From the research I done it seems to be the pinion gear seal. The vette repair shop I've been using say it is about a 4 hour job (@75 per hr) and up to 6 hrs if they need to reseal the cover as well. Does this seem like a reasonable price? Boy this low mileage vette is bleeding me dry. I just had the digital dash sent out for repair at $400 and to boot, my heater core went (which I had bypassed to save a few bucks)
Geat looking car in great shape but unforutnatley I'm wrench challenged and can't tackle these big jobs. Opinions please.

Not to be a smart,
for that much park it outside or get a piece of cardboard.
If you have someone take apart a 15yr old rear end you might as well have it entirely rebuilt or it will be back in the shop in a flash!!
My 200K mile 87 leaks a bit but I'm not going to touch it besides changing the fluid every other year.
just my .02

I agree with jsinga. If it's not leaking enough to drain the darned thing, then live with it... I had a leaking rear diff in my old Subaru for about 100k miles. Once a year I checked the fluid and added if it needed it. My Vette has damp spots at various places around the diff, but it's not worth the $$ and hassle to deal with.
