PKE gone nuts

Help! On my way home tonight, the Passive Keyless Entry light on my dash came on and my hatch release started clicking about every 5 seconds. It was cold, so the hatch finally opened after a while. So, there I am, going down the road in 15 degree weather with my hatch open, and the hatch release clicking every 5 seconds.

I parked in my garage and immediately pulled the PKE fuse. No change, hatch still clicking. So, I pulled the hatch fuse to shut it off, and closed the hatch. The PKE light is still on, even with the ignition off and the key removed. Another thing is that the interior lights come on as soon as the ignition is turned off, even before a door is opened. When exiting the car, the interior lights take longer to go off too, like when you first get in the car.

This stinks. I don't even use the PKE because I hate fobs, and have had the thing turned off ever since I bought the car 3 years ago. All I really want to do is turn the whole thing off. But pulling the PKE fuse didn't do that.

What do I do?

Ken

I disconnected both battery posts, then reconnected. This returned everything to normal. I'm leaving the PKE fuse out from now on though. I don't know if that will prevent a recurrance, but it can't hurt.

I assume you pulled the PKE fuse #5. There is another for the PKE module #40. This also controls the radio control head & receiver. This is just for your info, don't know if it pertains to your particular problem?

Yeah, I pulled #5. #40 is marked "RDO BATT", but if it acts up again, I'll yank that one too.
Thanks,
Ken
