On my 85 vette there is a plastic black strip above the valve covers and covers the injectors. Do they serve a purpose? I cracked one and would like to remove them permanently, or are they needed? What are they there for?;shrug

Should I just yank them and see what happens;shrug

GM has a habit of putting covers on things to dress up the engine compartment.. look at the 3800 V6 large cover over the top of the engine.

I thought they were there to protect those itsy bitsy wires that go to the fuel injectors!!

I call 'em "Squirrel covers".
Keeps the critters away from the wire harnesses.:)

I just went out and looked at my engine. I don't see anything ofer the injectors. I can clearly see the injector towers above/behind the valve rocker covers, the next thing below that is the aluminum tuned port pipes.
Do you have the TPI system?
A pic would help.

Right between the valve cover and the injectors. I don't have a picture, maybe someone has a pic of their TPI engine.

I just looked again. I've got nothing between the rocker cover and the injector towers except there is aq black plastic conduit about 5/8" across that covers a cable with wiring in it. The most prominent things in the space between the covers and injectors are the big fat intake tubes - they're bright silvery finish. I don't see any space in that area for any more stuff that wouldn't run into the tubes. I'd like to see pics from someone just to compare mine too.

Anybode else out there reading this???

Yeppers. Looks just like mine (except cleaner lol). I see the same black cover things above the rocker covers and below the manifold tubes. They seem to be protective pieces for a wiring conduit.

:beer Yep yep now I know what you were talking about too. Thanks for the compliment.
