I have a new C-6 2011 which I've had since last year with 3,000 miles on it. First it seemed the transmission froze while in drive when I might have bumped the paddle shifters. Couldn't get the car to correct itself and had to
pull over both times it happened. Shift in neutral and shut the car off. Then the On-Star wouldn't work, the serius
radio was going in and out, the convertible hard top would periodically freeze and get stuck. Each time I've taken
it to the dealer they "couldn't duplicate" the problems and the car still acts up. I'm thinking I've got a lemon
and don't know what to do. The car is going in AGAIN on monday. Now the On-Star doesn't work at all and the
navigation system works some of the time. Most of the time I just don't drive the car because it's always malfunctioning.

Any ideas on what could be going on with this car??

I would look into finding a Chevy dealership which has a very talented Corvette mechanic. GM has a certification known as "World Class Certified Technician".

A little "googling" for different dealerships and a few phone calls might find you one easily.

Or, start a new thread here asking that specific question.

The reason I am suggesting this: Sounds like you have some electrical gremlins causing you problems. A technician not schooled in the Covette C6 will be chasing his tail for days.

There are plenty of CAC members who live in your area. Some of them might already have experience with an excellent Corvette technician.

Wow! That's a lot of headache from a new Corvette! Did you take the C6 back to the service dept at the dealership at which you purchased it? On the C5, the first thing these guys suggest is 'pulling the codes' but I'm totally unfamiliar with the C6 and the process of pulling codes on one.

Hopefully someone more knowledgeable than myself will be along soon with suggestions.
Sorry you're having so many issues - but :welcome

Welcome to the CAC, Linda.

The bad news is diagnosing the specifics your C6's problems accurately via the Internet is likely a fool's errand.

That said, "LT4Man" has it right when he mentioned "electrical gremlins".

That you've got problems with the top mechanism and the car's entertainment systems (OnStar, Sirius and the Navi) along with some issues with the transmission when paddle shifted, clearly indicates a multitude of electrical problems.

If you're already working with what you think is a good dealer, I'd continue to work with them. Once you've made a warranty claim for a specific problem and the problem is not solved, I'd take the car back to the dealer, tell them you're not interested in having the car returned until it's repaired and ask for a loan car at GM's expense.

I'd be polite but firm in my requests to the dealer.

If you don't get the performance from the dealer which you expect, find a different dealer or contact Chevrolet's customer assistance staff. There should be a phone number for that in your Owner's Manual.

Good luck.

C-6 2011 multiple problems

Thanks everyone for your suggestions. This morning the On-Star again malfunctioned once and the nav system
lost my home address. At times the lighted options on the nav system did not allow me to add an address
(and I only have one address saved). The key fob also sometimes locks the doors when I walk away
like it was programmed to do and other times doesn't.

The car is going in again tomorrow to the nearest Chevy dealer. I just wish some codes would pop up or the problems could be duplicated so a mechanic could fix this. I've never had this many problems with any new car I owned.

2011 LT3 assorted problems

Linda: Welcome to the CAC. As you can see, you've tapped into the collective experience (if not knowledge) of some very sharp folks. I agree with LT4Man about the problem being electrical, and with Hib about addressing the issue with your dealer.

If I may add this. Because your problems are showing up in what seems to be unrelated systems (nav. system, auto top, transmission, etc.), the single common element to these circuits is the ground terminal at the battery, and secondarily, the various grounds (which are unrelated) throughout the car. C5 & C6 are sensitive to battery terminal ground connections and should be torqued to.....I believe.....11 ft. lbs. with a torque wrench. The "elbow estimate" won't do here, a TW must be used.

Additionally, post this question to fellow CAC member C5 C6 Specialist, aka CorvetteMechanic.com, aka Paul Koerner. He's also on FB as Corvette Mechanic and will come along to this thread shortly I expect. Paul is World Class Certified on Corvette and is widely sought after to address problems like your's. As Hib said, it's impossible to fix a complicated problem with our cars over the internet but Paul may have an overall observation to suggest to your dealer's service dept.

Please post a followup when you get the problem sorted out. Nice car.:upthumbs

Which dealer have you been dealing with? PM me - might be able to recommend a local dealer with some Corvette credibility.

I would become very familiar with your state's lemon laws while you attempt to work through this with your dealer.

Check with your state's Attorney General's office - Consumer Protection section for the straight info on your state's Lemon Laws.

Linda821,

I'm sorry you have had these issues happening to your Corvette. Please keep us informed on what happens at the dealer today. If nothing gets resolved this time please DM with your information and I can exhaust my resources.

Evan, Chevrolet Customer Service

I hope they check all the chassis grounds.

You might have them look at the fuse box grounds under the passenger front floor board where we put the fuse back for the NPP exhaust.

Also, have heard that they might be able to do a bleed check on the hydraulic top.

Hope to see you Sat at Waverly Place in Cary NC.
