Welcome to the Corvette Forums at the Corvette Action Center!

PLEASE HELP! DESPERATE!

1) Okay, what is your answer to installing the TPS? Do you know of an easy way?

2) In MY opinion you DID denigrate him, "In my opinion, there's nothing that Mr. Killebrew knows that's worth that much. In addition, based on observation or anecdotal information about his work with others, my opinion is that his depth of knowlege is lacking in some areas."

I think that was a little uncalled for.

3) I never made a demand you stop answering posts to a public forum and yes, I do know how forums work being a member of many. I have run across your type before. I do not consider myself arrogant. I will go out of my way to help someone. I just do not want you responding to MY posts with your arrogant holier-than-thou Internet Technical Writer moniker. You know Hib, I have met a lot of people a whole lot smarter than you. It has been my experience that people who have titles such as yours suffer from the Napoleon complex.

Now, you go your own little way on this forum and I will go mine. Don't answer my posts and I won't bother you. Deal?

I think what ecss is saying here is that you have to slip the TPS onto the shaft rotated far enough so it engages on the proper side of the tab, then turn it to line up the screws. You may have to have it rotated over 1/4 turn, and be sure you start from the right direction.

Hi Glenn.
That's just it. The proper side of the tab inside the TPS. Is your advice to have the TB plates at the rest position, place the new TPS on the tab in the counterclockwise position and THEN turning it to the clockwise position so it will have tension? Or is it the other way around? That is why Mr. Killebrew had me cut off a little of the pipe, for clearance. You know, I have changed out a zillion aircraft parts on all the big jets and I have never had this much trouble with a part replacement. Of course this time the FSM is next to useless. I'll bet there is a throttle body FSM of it's own out there somewhere.

Thanks again.

Paul

I did just that. Thanks for the advice, I appreciate it. Junk is a really nice guy who is extremely helpful.

Paul

And, I am sorry.

If you unbolt the IAC housing from the bottom of the throttle body, that will give you all the clearance you need to reinstall the TPS.

It's item #10 the arrow points to the pipe but Item #10 is the IAC/Coolant housing/plate.

Thanks eccs! I will do just that when I get my new one. I really appreciate your help.

Oh, wait, that's WAY too much work. That is starting all over again! Draining fluid, removing the TB, etc. Shoot. I thought you meant remove the IAC. Well, I cut the pipe a little and now there is some clearance to rotate it counterclockwise so I will have to see what happens. If not then I will have to start all over again.
