plug wires

Depends what your objectives are - the stock wires work fine if they're routed correctly and handled with reasonable care during installation. For my non-judged cars, I use blue MSD Heli-Core wires - I buy the "universal" kit and cut each one to correct length after routing them. The big fat expensive wires are a waste of money, IMO, and nothing looks worse (to me) than a huge rat's nest of high-priced wires that are way too long, in those ugly fluorescent colors, flapping around in the breeze.

If your running stock exhaust manifolds any good quality wire is fine. If your running headers which expose the wires to a lot more heat, or want a little performance boost, thats another story. I have Accel 8mm Super Stock Spiral Core wires, thes are the most economical of the high end stuff like Moroso, Taylor, or MSD. A custom fit set cost me about $25 at the local Pep Boys.

I'm thinking I'd like to take an NCRS award one of these days, I'm never going to drag or race (ok, maybe once in a while :) ) so maybe stock. This leads me to my other question, I've seen wires that are "dated" reproduction in Corvette Central for $65. The non-dated reproduction are $30...Does the NCRS take points away for non-dated wires?

Yes, plug wires are NCRS-judged, and you'll take a deduction unless the wires are dated within six months of the build date of the car. All the resto parts houses have dated wire sets (most are made by Lectric Limited), dated either "1Q" (1st quarter) or "3Q" (3rd quarter) of each year - you select whichever one is within six months of your build date.
