In the pre-Carlisle preventative maintenance/tune up mode and was going to replace the plug wires. Opened up the Summit racing catalog as well as a bunch of the vette supply companies and the choices border on stagerring. I run a slightly modified base 350 nothing outrageous, electronic points with stock coil. Any recommendations out there?

I know some folks take their plug wires serious and the catalog prices pretty much prove that. But to be honest I'm one of those who doesn't believe there's much to get excited about here. ACDelco replacement wires should work just fine. The 'correct' repros from LectricLimited are probably fine but I really don't know much about them. While you can easily spend 5X this, even the $20 parts store varieties have not failed me on my beaters for 10+yrs/100+Kmi and often come w/ those LL warranties.

If you run your wires through ALL the 71's OE shielding ('specially the shields down low on sides of block) ... you can't run bigger OD (i.e. 8mm & larger) wires.

I like spiral / helical wound wires. Taylor Spiro Pro, Accel 300+ Race Wire, MSD helicore & Moroso Blue Max are all very good wires but are at least 8mm.

I recently saw an ad for a newer Mallory wire that has a spiral/helical wound core but is only 5mm ... should fit all 71 shielding.

I run Accel 300+ 8.8mm racewires on my wby 71 and the bhb 71 I had before ... no shielding used or needed. Taylors are very good wires at very nice price.
