Just wondering what some other members think of putting plastic under stored cars as a moisture barrier, and/or a ceiling fan with some vents installed low on the garage walls.

I think plastic on the floor will trap moisture and cause mold and mildew. A vapor barrier should have been placed under the slab.

I have a 1967 deville convertable that I have to park in a neighbors garage (because of lack of room) the garage is unheated with no electricity. The car has been in this garage for several years with NO PROBLEMS,Over this winter something has changed and now it became a damp garage that the moisture is wicking out of the garage floor and ruining the bottom of my car, also moisture is getting up inside the interiour of the car.So besides getting a new place to store my car I would like to see what the recomendation are to store a car in an area with no heat or electricity that we know has a moisture problem.I may purchase a bag for the car and throw in some desicant bags

Any slab poured without a moisture barrier will eventually allow soil moisture to migrate up through it; in that case, you want to absorb the moisture, not trap it - like laying cardboard or plywood sheets on it that can "wick" it and allow it to evaporate when conditions permit.

After fighting that issue in many previous homes, when we built our new home (and my dream garage), I laid 10-mil Visqueen on the soil, then laid 4'x 8' sheets of tongue-and-groove 1" thick high-density closed-cell foam with heavy foil on both sides on top of the Visqueen, set the rod and mesh, then poured the slab over that. Absolute 100%-effective moisture barrier, and great insulation - floor is warm and dry all the time, and the epoxy coating applied over it will never fail. The foil/foam/foil barrier was about eight bucks a sheet four years ago.
