Possible transmission problem?

I've noticed lately that my A4 is not shifting as smoothly as it used to. It's is especially bad at low speeds. There seems to be a hesitation as I accelerate from low speeds where the engine starts to rev and the transmission grabs late, making for a jerky and uncomfortable acceleration. Shifts at all speeds are also more pronounced. It's not as nice and smooth as it was when new. Except for the occasional excercise, I'm pretty easy on the car.

Any help would be appreciated.

I've got a 2002 coupe, A4, 3.15 gears, approximately 9,000 miles.

Have you checked the tranny fluid level? With a car with such low mileage I would expect it is OK, but you never know.

What are we talking here......using the car for short sporty spurts? 9K on the car, and that's maybe averaging under 1000 miles a month?
I agree with C4C5. I'd look for vacuum, ECM for codes, and maybe change the Trans fluid just for grins. I wouldn't put any additives in.
The transmission fluid change might be the cheapest fix of all. I'm sure it wouldn't hurt a thing. The hot setup is to take it to a shop that has the special machine to remove all the ATF out of the pan and torque converter. That way, you have fresh fluid working all the pressure valves in the valve body. That will help with smoother shift qualities.

Thanks to all for the replies. I'll look up how to read the codes and report back when I get a chance. :beer

HI there,
I would also check for codes in the DIC.
