Possibly trading my 02 Silverado for a 96 Collector's vette, what should I look for?

So I was driving home from work yesterday, and saw what turned out to be a 96 corvette! Collectors! Called up the guy and he was looking for a truck so I offered to trade my silverado and $4,000. He was actually selling the vette for 12,500. But were still talking numbers. I really like the car. I'm not familiar with it, I have drove a Collectors years ago. I just want to know what I should look for; signs-signs leading to problems, etc., has a new tranny(said he has receipt) had the car since 00'. It has 98,022 miles. The transmission has about 5,000 miles, he said he has no spare tire, the weather stripping is kinda shot and something is wrong with the security sensor when you put it in "Park" it wont shut off, you have to wiggle it in park. Another words I just want to avoid getting a bad car, Hopefully Ill be able to test drive it tomorrow.

My opinion is that he's asking too much for that '96 Collector. There are many other C4's for sale with far less miles. A car with 98k miles could be due for lots of work. Keep looking. Just my thoughts. :)

DON'T DO THIS DEAL!! Make him give you the 4k and the car!

You'll have $800- $1000 to do all the weather strip. The switch is probably not a big deal if you like to work in your garage....but its still work.:ugh

If he'll give you $2500 and the car AFTER your mechanic inspects it, consider that.

He's the one getting the newer vehicle and the sad truth is that he is asking about $4500 TOO much for that car, as nice as it once WAS........

Remember the first rule of car buying....

DO NOT FALL IN LOVE.

Thanks guys, Well I just got home and took it for a ride, honestly I wasnt really feeling it :ugh he forgot to mention the door doesnt open haha, but started it, put it in reverse then in park to figure out what he was talking about earlier, its bad i dont know what it is but its bad, It drove very nice the guy has kept it in great condition, my interior on my 90 looks better than his though, after all said n done I told him no thanks lol I'll feel better investing it in something else or in my corvette.
