Yesterday, GM issued Document ID: 5697012 - #A202307262: Safety Recall - Loss of Brake Assist - (Dec 21, 2020) affecting several models including the 2020 Corvette.

Right now the document mentions involved vehicles being the 2020 - 2021 Buick Encore GX and Cadillac XT4, but no further mention of the other models including Cadillac CT4, CT5, XT4, Chevy Malibu, Trailblazer and Corvette.

According to the document:

Vehicles involved in this recall were placed on stop delivery September 24, 2020. Once the service procedure contained in this bulletin has been performed on the vehicle, the vehicle is released from stop delivery and the vehicle can be delivered to the customer.

This is a phased launch.

All involved vehicles that are in dealer inventory must be held and not delivered to customers, dealer traded, or used for demonstration purposes until the repair contained in this bulletin has been performed on the vehicle.

Condition:

General Motors has decided that a defect which relates to motor vehicle safety exists in certain 2020 – 2021 model year Buick Encore GX, and 2020 model year Cadillac XT4 vehicles. Material used in a sensor connection in the electronic brake boost system in these vehicles may have been contaminated during the material supplier’s production process. Contamination of this material may cause an interruption of communication between the sensor and the brake boost system under certain conditions. If communication with the sensor is interrupted, electronic brake boost assist could be lost. Extra pedal force will be required to slow and stop the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.

Correction:

Dealers will replace the electronic brake boost module.

Given that this recall will be a "phased launch", we should receive more information soon referring to the 2020 Corvette.

As of right now, dealers have received a model and VIN list of affected in-stock vehicles that fall under this recall.

We'll provide more information as it becomes available.
