Power Antenna

I have a power antenna that no longer works. It goes up, but will not go down. It just continues to run. Does anyone now where to get a direct replacement, or know of a place that repairs them. The only ones that I have found require me to rewire up to the radio. I really don't want to have to do that, but if it is the only choice, I will have to do it.

My vette is a 79. Thank you all in advance for the help.

Eckler's sells replacement antennas, but I do recall that there are several do-it-yourself fixes to repair certain problems. Perhaps someone with more experience will chime in with repair advice.

Same problem with my 77 , I just disconected the power for it !! Someone should know what's up, It'l help me too.

I had the same problem, but mine was due to the fact that the Antenna is shot. I've just clipped the power wires until I get around to replacing the Antenna & Radio.

Many places sell replacement antennas or repair kits, but you need to know if the repair kit will work on your antenna. Probably have to pull it out and take it apart first, then either order a replacement or repair kit.

One thing to check first though, does the Antenna go up and down manually? If so, its an electrical problem, signal from the radio or something like that, if not, the Antenna is probably shot.

Yes the antenna does go up and down manually. It gets power to go down, but the antenna doesn't go. I am assuming it is just a switch in the power portion. Therefore, I was hoping someone rebuilt them.
