Power cutting off

Hey guys, first post and I need some help, like everyone else, with a 1993 LT1. I have been fighting with my opti and my fuel pump. Got both sorted out, (well at least the opti, haven't been able to try the fuel pump yet) but now when I put the key to start, the power cuts out and I have to unplug the battery to get power back. I'm guessing its VATS or is it a CCM since it's a '93? Either way I think it's the relay that cuts power to the starter, or at least that's what it sounds like. What's the best way to fix it? Any help is appreciated guys, it's my first real car and I just really want her running again.
