I have the electrical charts for my 81. But I am not sure where to start.
Worked fine for years, but dead this spring. Anyone have any experiance troubleshooting the driver side stock power seat in there 81 ?

Maybe the fuse?

Had my seat out last year and noticed wiring had a pretty good pinch in it.
Suggest you remove seat and check wires probably one broken or got caught while moving seat and pulled apart.

That was it my friend. Popped the lower seat cusion up...pulled the wire up through the hole in seat frame, and sure enough one wire was severely crimped. Soon as I straightened it out, power seat came back better then ever.... Sometimes fixing the small things easily CAN HAPPEN....:)
Thanks for the suggestion

1982 pwr drv seat no work

drquazar / Barry / Wonk: Hi guys - Saw your 'seat' posts - Well, finally took the plunge and bought an 82! Pwr drivers seat is one issue! Will look for fuse and crimp per your posts. I will pick the car up either tonight or Sat. but driver seat stuck forward about 4 inch from all the way back... very cramped to drive, (am tall) was hoping to somehow do a quick fix so as to slide it back just for that 1st drive home. If not fuse or crimp, is there any way you know of to manually slide the seat backwards. THANKS for any info you night have... Regards, Newvetter

You need to fix that wire. The crimp has now jeopardized the integrity of the wire and jacket. You will likely have another failure again from shock and vibration either with a broken wire or a short. If you have the tools I would cut the wire out and replace with a new wire the same gauge and cover the splices with shrink tubing. Then you will never have a problem. Shouldn't take more than 30 min to fix. I'd also look for a way to keep the wire bundle from getting trapped by the seat frame when you re-install the seat again.

Good Luck..........
