power seat question

Hi,

My passenger-side power seat would not move forward or backward. I bought a rebuilt power seat track to fix this. There appears to be three motors side by side that move the seat. However, it appears that only the center motor turns. Does anyone know if this is the correct operation? This appears to be the case on the drivers-side seat as well. But maybe this one is not working correctly either. Why three motors if only one drives the seat?

Thanks,

Mike

What year car?

Front motor lifts the front of the seat, rear motor lifts the rear of the seat, the center motor runs the seat forward and backward. I'm assuming that all the racks work the same regardless of year.

I had the same problem on my '89 but on the drivers side. Turned out the switch was bad.

It's a 1990 with power sport seats. I didn't think that the power track did anything other than move the seat forward and backward. How do you lift the front and rear of the seats?

Thanks,

Mike

The sports seats are six way power seats, but are usually only on the drivers side. Is it possible that you only have a switch to move the seat forward and back, but the rack that you bought is actually the entire six way rack.

The long oblong switch that moves the drivers seat forward and back, also moves the whole seat up and down by sliding the switch right and left. If you rotate the top of the switch clockwise, it should raise the front of the seat, if you rotate it counter-clockwise it should lower the front. The same with the bottom of the switch for the rear of the seat.

Is there a separate oblong switch for the passenger's seat the same as the one you use for the drivers's seat? Or is the switch for the passenger seat a separate switch?

seat switch

Does the motor run in either position (forward/reverse) ? My '90 would go forward but not back. Turned out to be the switch. Magmotor helped me find the part (which I still haven't done) .... actually haven't checked. GM has discontinued the seat switch for the '90 and '91 models. In the mean time I simply rewired the switch ... the two inboard terminals control forward backward .... reverse them and the seat will go back when pressing the switch forward.

Helped me get into the seat after I had moved it all the way forward. ;help Now it stays where I put it ..... till I can find that switch.

My main conrols are in the hole between the seats on the console. The longer center lever moves the seat back/forth and the two tab switches on either side move the up/down and tilt forward/back. Then the armrest controls take care of the lumbar settings etc. I have the AC1 and AC9 seats...
