I know history on these power steering original equipment was not very good with leaks. I have the original factory equipment and it leaks about 4 oz or so every 200 to 300 miles. The previous owner rebuilt a valve which stopped the leak about 20 years ago, but that only lasted a few years before leaking again on him. I don't want to bother doing this if that's still the case today. Is there a perminate fix out there today?

My suggestion would be to clean up the area with some mineral spirits and first try to determine where the leak is. Is it leaking around the pump area or around the control valve or the PS cylinder? Could likely be one of the four rubber hoses, and if you find one bad I'd replace them all at the same time. If it looks like the leak is coming from around one of the hose fittings on the valve, remove the hose and carefully check for a cracked flared end.

If it's the power steering cylinder it is really easy to replace. Just did mine last week.
