How difficult is it to replace a power steering pump on a 1977? Also how do you remove the pully from the old pump and put it on the new one?;shrug

You have two bolts and then the hoses. Power steering pumps are a slimy job though- you'll get greasy. Otherwise, it is as easy as removing an alternator... just messier.

The pulley is a different matter. I usually take mine to NAPA in the morning before work and then pick it up that evening after work. I don't mess with it.

If the pulley has a nut holding it on, the pulley will come off with little effort; if there's no nut, it's pressed on, and you need a special tool to remove it and to replace it on the shaft.

Thanks for the info. Can you tell me which auto parts store has a loan a tool? I know I have seen it but can not remember which one it was.
