my passenger side window is going very slow now. when i got her the window seemed slower than the driverside......that works good, nice and smooth.....but the other side is always slow.....i also have a previous reciept that says in it " do not use window"
...so it looks like it had trouble before. it didnt state however which window! so im not sure if thats why the driverside is working so good.....maybe that was the bad one then and was fixed, now the other one is going kapuut...
anybody know of where i should start? it dont have much room to work under the inside door skin.....ive seen parts in the vette cats . for repairing them , but im not sure how to locate the issue.
it seems to go down slow and up very slow....laboring.....starting to make noise when going up....
maybe the motor......spring......loose screw...
any help is appreaciated , thanks a bunch.....charlie :bu

It's likely the motor. It's not uncommon for them to go bad after 20+ years. I've had mine replaced already. Not a whole lot you can do other than a visual inspection. I do seem to recall though (at least on my '80) it was somewhat of a PITA ("Pain In The...") job getting the motor out of the door.

That problem never got fixed well into the 90's on GM cars. My son's '92 Camaro windows go up so slow there are times I'm wondering if they'll ever make it up. But the windows on the '81 Vette go up like rockets.

I does sound like bad motors especially if you do not hear any binding sound as if the rail guides may not be moving smoothly.

Good luck.......... Nut

Thanks guys....

going to look at the motor this weekend. :w

My windows are pretty weak too, especially the passenger side. I was wondering if some cleaning and oiling would make a difference?

Also, the passenger side is a little sloppy. Maybe it is binding on the way up?

Window repair is a fairly common itme on these old cars. I just rebuilt mine with a great improvement on the tracking. I think the total cost of the rebuild parts were $100 - 125. Instructions and parts references can be found at this link.
