I order pre cut carpet from Corvette Central and the guy I had putting it in said it once he got it in a few spots did not meet up all the way to were they were supose to leaving some wood showing up by the shifter. The other spot behind the seats where the batt. is does not tuck in all the way leaving it looking lose and crappy. There was no way to tell they cut it to short till it was already in its no really bad but it still ****es me and my friend off. But since its already in what should I do? People have suggested I take pictures and send them in and try to get some credit at the sore. I am afaird they will just say that the person just put it in wrong.

But another thing before I complain, is it possible he put it in wrong? I mean I have seen his work with carpets in boats and it looks great. Well I guess I cant really say anything till its 100% done. But he said only the front and back is glued down and the rest of the carpet is held in by screws is this true? I thought everything was glued down, in every spot. My friends GTO is like that.

I can tell you right now it does not look like this, see behind the seats where it supose to tuck in by the batt. Its all messed up there, it got cut with a slant to it and its right on one side and wrong on another, I will have to put up some pictures.

LoL I know I was just showing what it should look like, and my is far away from looking like that. I will get some pictures up by the end of the week. This car is cursed, The car plus everything I have in it comes to about 21k but the car is still only worth like 10k, I am confused on how this happen but o well. If my carpet does not end up looking like yours I am going to do this and Get a Cobra Rustang, I mean mustang.
If the interior for this car does not get close to perfect I am going to do a few things because I SWEAR TO GOD THIS CAR IS CURSED!! The first thing I am going to do is get an engine lift and take the new engine out. Then I am going to take the Dash and speakers out and all the stuff I put in it, then I am going to get a golf club and break everything on that car so no one can ever use it for parts then I will dump it in the junk yard.

I would follow with customer support as well. If they can't satisfy you you should return it.

My problem was that the carpet was too big. I had to do a lot of trimming. Basically, I put the cutouts, formed areas, etc., in place for orientation and took a lead pencil to mark my cuts.

I did not glue any of mine in. The various corners and trim pieces held it in place fine.

I got mine from The Last Detail but it was supplied by one of the major vendors. I don't remember whether or not it was Corvette Central.

Mine does not hold in at all like that, the spots that arnt glued has pocketes of air. But its still not done, but if it still has pockets of air when its done I dont know what I am going to do. Any way I cant afford to take the carpet out and return it because I will have to pay more labor to have some new carpet put in. I dont think mine was molded tho. I guess I have to wait a few more days and see what he can do with it.

Bender,

Dd you do this your self or pay someone. This is a very easy DIY job. If you paid someone, complain to them, try to get your money back and do it yourself.

It's just a matter of lying it flat in the heat for a day or so and everything goes together.

Bob

I paid someone to do it because I was getting a good deal, This one place was going to charge me 800 total to put the carpet in not including the door panels! Only time will tell how this turns out, it has been raining a lot so I dont think he has been working on it. Maybe it will be done tommorw, not much left he said he had to mold the carpet down or something and put the seats back in and he is done.

If you have an 81 it's not going to look anything like that.... I just put new carpets in my 81 and I don't feel the fit was very good... Took me a lot of cutting and pulling to get it to sit right and I'm still not completely satisfied... I'm just going to live with the fact that it's a corvette and nothing lines up right...

Oh... Did I mention that I am partially disabled and I did it myself??? Although I did spend a good amount of time curled up in a ball in the back because I couldn't get out of the car...

I had some trouble with my carpet, I have a 80. Seemed to be short in some areas and buckled in others, a friend came over with his heat gun and "warmed" the back side of the carpet up and with some tugging and pulling it turned out great. Watch the heat, you can melt the carpet with a good heat gun, I think a hair dryer would work fine. I didn't glue any of mine either!

Tweek that sounds exactly like what is happen with my carpet, I dont understand why 80's carpet is cut crappy and others are not tho. I paid almost 300.00 for carpet it should be 100% right when I get it.

Can someone post some pictuers of what the carpet should look like installed, so when I go to pick it up I can tell its 100% right and I wont get told that it supose to be like that. I cant afford another hit on this car and not be done 100 percent right.
